For comparison I went back to the Lionel Century Club Hudson price in 1996 at $1095 which seems fair given that they are both Hudsons and are special releases to celebrate a significant Lionel anniversary.
The new Vision Hudsons to celebrate Lionel's 125th birthday are cataloged at $1800
In 2024 dollars the Lionel Century Club 7773 Hudson MSRP is equal to $2210 in 2024.
IMO, this makes the much more detailed and technologically advanced Vision Hudson a good deal, even at MSRP. Its even better deal when you factor in dealer discounts of a couple hundred dollars off.
Even so, I am leaning towards not buying this locomotive because I have no interest in a NYC locomotive, nor do I want a Hudson in any other color but black. The TH&B is a possibility but I am going to see what METCA comes up with in case its something that will impress with its originality. Hopefully no NYC or its younger step brother, CNJ.

Bite your tongue. Are you nuts. Not interested in the NYC and Hudsons? Don’t worry it’s all good and each to his own. If I didn’t already have five Hudsons I’d be a buyer.

Not interested in NYC, check out NYC affiliates. I know the B&A ran Hudsons...maybe that's more palatable.

Comparison, in 1996 Lionel came out with the Century Club Hudson priced at 1095.00. But 10 years later, and many consider it the better detailed Hudson, K Line introduced its Hudson at 624.99. But because of the lawsuit later some sold for as low as 400.00. I bought 2 of them in late 2006 for, (looking at the receipt) 820.00 which included tax and shipping. Today many still consider the K Line a superb model and it could run on smaller radius so was a hit with many. Even though I sold one and considering selling my other one, I still love running it and still impressed with its detailing which outshined earlier Lionel Hudsons offerings.

Oh, the company that went out business for underselling their products.

Now I laugh when I see Dealers, Ebay, and secondhand listings posting their old vision line Hudson's for 2,000 or more. Really? The street price on those will drop immensely.

Anyway, comparing a Lionel 100th anniversary Hudson with a Lionel 125th anniversary is good comparison.. However, if I remember correctly, didn’t MTH release a full scale Hudson recently? How do they compare?

I think I am just burnt out on NYC and Pennsylvania railroads. I like more obscure road names. I am thinking about the TBH Hudson but Ibam waiting to see if METCA will offer an uncatalogued vision Hudson.
