I was at Harbor Freight and bought a pretty decent variable soldering iron. Got home and was all set to start a new project, but noooo I can't find the wire I was going to use and nobody sells wire thin enough for what I need!
All week I have seen that wire and now it's not where I last saw it! Why am I still in this hobby?

If I had a dime for every time I misplaced something in plain site or exactly where it should have been.
Denny, don’t get too frustrated. I’m sure it will turn up somewhere soon.

All right, I confess. I found it on the sidewalk outside of your house and sold it on e-bay.

Every time I "misplace" something in my shop, I kick myself and say, just take the extra time to put it away were it belongs. But I fail at that.
I had lost a special made ball peen hammer made by my Dad I keep on the wall. I used this thing as a little boy and still use it today. Couldn't find it for weeks. Was really upset because I knew it was in the shop.
Went over to the drill press last week. Picked up some drill bits and there was the hammer. Could not even remember why I would have used it or put it there.

You know, if I wasn't chronically subject to the exact same phenomenon (constantly losing track of stuff I was just using), I'd probably have enough time to spare for all those projects SWMBO puts on my to-do list . . .

I'm doing stuff like this more and more as I get older, for example I went grocery shopping yesterday and when I went to the cashier I found out I didn't have my bank card for the second time in 3 weeks. Where in the heck was it!!! Well it was right where I left it at home! Good thing I had my credit card this time. The less said about the first time the better!
So you see Denny we all go thru the same thing one time or another, you will find that wire sooner or later, hopefully sooner!!!

My previous house had a single detached garage. Before I moved in I was working on the house. I went into the garage one Sunday and it was half empty. I was robbed! For about 2 years after I would look for a tool that I knew I had and realize that it was gone!

For about 2 years after I would look for a tool that I knew I had and realize that it was gone! I feel your pain! Back over 40 years ago, I was living in a row house in downtown Baltimore, and had a box of some of my favorite tools lifted from the back of my VW minivan when I parked it overnight in a space off the back alley. For years I would periodically discover a tool I had once had now needed replacement! Arghh . . .

Denny, over the last two weeks, there were at least 3 items that I could not find, even though I could swear that I knew where I put them. Of course, it delayed things I wanted to do. You know what is going to happen?? When we are not expecting it, we will probly unexpectedly step on it and get injured. Alfred

My garage is in such disarray that after a short search it is more efficient task wise to surrender, go to Home Depot and repurchase whatever it is I can't find. After I die and my family is cleaning out the place they will wonder why I have so many new in packaging tools of the same items.

I have done that a couple of times, but finally had enough and spent a few days organizing the tools and supplies. Of course, since then it has slowly gotten back into disarray. Impossible to keep up with it.

Denny, you never even had the wire. It was all just a dream. It was just a dream. You dreamed you had the wire you needed. Then you awoke and went to Harbor Freight thinking you were ready to go. There never was the wire you needed in your possession. It doesn’t actually exist since you can’t locate the size you need.
Just regroup and use a bigger wire.

When I moved from my house back in 2008 and as I tore down my layout of 30x15 I found six screw drivers in the scenery I also found a circular saw in a mountain that I found after i accused someone of stealing it. In the garage when I decided to have a sale I found container after container of tools, screws, bolts and so many items it was incredible. I counted the number of screw drivers and it turned out to be 167 screw drivers of all sizes. Whenever I needed a screw driver and I couldn't find the correct size I would buy another one. Home depot loved me!! It was the same way with many other things. I had one of those Sears tools chest that had 7 drawers and rarely any tool was ever in it.
So you see Denny your not the only one.
Btw when I tore down the layout I found spools of wire, A huge amount of tools and even half filled soda cans, cups, dishes, all of it hidden under the scenery for many years.

Just regroup and use a bigger wire. I actually found a bigger wire that might work. It has to move with the truck so hopefully I can use it. If not the d*** thing just won't have a light.
