Oh and for the record I thought Dave’s post was funny. It was obvious it was just a joke with no intent to start a brand war or discourage anyone from buying Lionel trains. Don’t worry, be happy! Everyone still likes Lionel and all the other train providers. When it comes to being upset about making fun of an importer, you gotta chill, Brah!  Then what was the point? It is funny enough that Dave would make the joke in person to the good folks who work at Lionel? I doubt it. And where are the Atlas or MTH jokes from Dave?
There will be plenty of jokes about Atlas and/or MTH as soon as they reach the level of mistakes and apathy towards their customers as Lionel has.

LOL so true! I think the issue is at the price paid you think there would be some accountability? If this was a O27 release of this set then ok I get it, it was a toy representation... but if you are paying BTO custom brass prices as advertised could you throw us a bone?

As soon as I saw Ryan's live stream with the Dreyfus Hudson looking like it was bleached I canceled my entire 20th Century order. Sometimes the best deal is the deal you don't make.

It was such a travesty. I was literally devastated. I was waiting to purchase since 2008. It motioned me to focus on western roads. The odd thing is they nailed the GN Empire builder set. I am convinced Lionel changes the shade of colors so you cannot piece meal engines with previous released passenger cars and vice versa.

I suppose that conscious thought as you infer would be preferable to a lack of competence. Oh blast, we are back to the cartoon again. As in most instances of consumer discontent/disappointment/anger it is the unrealized expectations which ignite complaints, and worse. Those unrealized expectations are largely the responsibility of the manufacturer/importer or service provider that over promised and under delivered. The solution is quite simple, deliver what you promise, and don't promise what you can't deliver consistently.

Nathan's is a very good, in fact, exceptional hot dog. But in my not-so-humble opinion, Hebrew National (they answer to a higher authority  ) is just slightly superior.

You're entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong. However, when thousands of dollars are being paid for the item, the details matter.
In fact, the details matter in just about all aspects of life.

My Atlas 3 rail freight cars frequently arrive with missing screws holding the truck to the car body. Do I b***th about it? No I dig around for screw that fits and attach the truck and have fun running it on layout. I ordered an MTH Central Maine and Quebec AC4400ac back in in December 2022. No sign of it yet! Do I make jokes about MTH and Mike Wolf? No, I patiently wait for the locomotive knowing that it will get here when it gets here and I will have fun with it when it gets here. I recently received direct from Lionel the new scale John Deer gondola and the Area 51 gondola. Each of them came with a broken truck. Did I post a meme saying Lionel’s management can’t even build a hotdog? No, I emailed Lionel and in a week they sent me replacement trucks for free. I put them on the gondola and had fun running trains. None of the big three are perfect or mistake free. |
