I was born and raised in Glen Cove, NY, about 35 miles east of New York City. In the metro NYC area ketchup goes on hamburgers and mustard goes on hot dogs. Only a weirdo would put mustard on a burger or ketchup on a hot dog. Now I live in Florida and I have to remember that people here have exotic tastes. They actually put both mustard and ketchup and sometimes even mayonnaise on hamburgers. YUCK! They put ketchup on hot dogs. YUCK! If we eat out I have to remember to order my hamburger with only ketchup and pickles and my hot dog with only mustard and sauerkraut, nothing else. Dirty Harry is right, nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog ðŸŒMaybe.
But I like ketchup on a hotdog (as long as its not a Chicago dog) and as long as it's the right (and only) ketchup.

I have been on the other side many moons ago and had many comments aimed at the company I worked for and it was my job to set the record straight. When you are a head of a company you have to learn to take jabs and critical responses to what your doing. Having a sense of humour of what other people may say about you or your company is a part of life. Btw I hung that picture in a regional office of the company I worked for in the early 80's, as they say if the shoe fits!! It hung there till the very end of the company Dave This isn't constructive criticism or a proposal of how to do something better. It wasn't witty, brilliant, or useful when you first posted it and doubling down on this goofball trolling meme doesn't make it any more witty, brilliant or useful today. Would you walk up to Ryan or Dave at a show and wave that cartoon in their faces and say, "This is what I think all you guys running Lionel." They would look at you like you like were a dufus and then move on to another customer that would have something intelligent or useful to say. Saying you hung this at your office back in the early 1980s just shows how behind the times you are. Welcome to 2024, the train wars are over, and good luck to MTH, Atlas, and Lionel. Oh, please give it a rest! Given the many prior discussions, the original post IMHO was on topic and mildly amusing, but in any event no big deal. Your repeated and somewhat hyperbolic complaints and pushback have been duly noted, but your intolerance to the opinions and explanations of others is getting a bit tiresome. Please give it a rest -- this is not a '90's usenet flame war that overly rewards the dogmatic and persistent, but rather a civil forum where differing opinions are not only tolerated but valued.

Madockawando, at the very least David1 is IMO expressing sarcasm nothing more, and nothing less. I agree that I would not show this cartoon to either Dave or Ryan, but I might be tempted to show to their boss as that person is the alleged management of the company.

Where is Traindiesel when you need him... I want to know what he puts on those Gourmet Hot Dogs he gets at York How to create the ultimate Gourmet Hot Dogs www.modernhoney.com/gourmet-hot-dogs/ Those recipes in that website are for tourists or non-frankfurter connoisseurs.
At the York Meet I am limited by the condiments they provide. Not truly benefiting the gourmet quality of their hot dogs (cough, cough). I have to settle for the provided French’s mustard and their tub of pickle relish (minus the fruit flies hopefully). If I’m feeling wild I’ll add their dried out onions. I will add that the Dog House food truck outside the Orange Hall had much better dogs prepared fresh by order with quality condiments.
However, an authentic Traindiesel Gourmet Hot Dog is a Nathan’s Beef Hot Dog that is grilled to perfection, slightly crispy outside and hot and tender inside on a poppyseed or potato bun. The heavenly meat is cradled in the bun with American cheese melted just right so it melds together with the bun.
The toppings are authentic Goulden’s Spicy Brown Mustard (the same that should only grace a Philly soft pretzel), and either Vlassic Pickle Relish or Chicago style bright neon green relish. Chopped white onions are optional. Finally, finished off with real crispy bacon. Everything is better with bacon!
( Culinary note: ketchup is banned on a Traindiesel Gourmet Hot Dog as an insidious flavoring by the Traindiesel Gourmet Frankfurter Institute of Technology. Ketchup is reserved only for French fries, cheeseburgers and cheesesteaks)

Oh and for the record I thought Dave’s post was funny. It was obvious it was just a joke with no intent to start a brand war or discourage anyone from buying Lionel trains. Don’t worry, be happy! Everyone still likes Lionel and all the other train providers. When it comes to being upset about making fun of an importer, you gotta chill, Brah!

Actually with the color inaccuracy with the Dreyfus Hudson and cars... you kind of wonder what is going on with Lionel? I dodged the 3,500 dollar purchase and thought "Whew dodged that catastrophe".

It is funny enough that Dave would make the joke in person to the good folks who work at Lionel? I doubt it. And where are the Atlas or MTH jokes from Dave?

Thanks guys, I tried to tell him it was all done in jest but I guess I failed. Its a funny cartoon, nothing more! Sorry to bring others into it. Dave I understood what you said, but it just isn't funny. Would you go to the Lionel booth at the Amherst Train show and present it to Dave and Ryan? Accusing people that they are grossly incompetent isn't humor. This isn't the 1980s anymore. But if you insist that its a real knee slapper... show it the folks at Lionel when you stop by their both next time.

I wouldn't go to the Lionel booth to present the cartoon (it would be a bit brash) but I would present this photo of the Dreyfus Hudson release and say what were you thinking? Can we fix the paint on this for the next release?

So there. But to bring this back to trains somewhat; how about a custom run Oscar Myer Weiner mobile on a flat car? Oh Mr. Muffin.....
