Will you be doing any train hobby related Spring cleaning? What are your anticipated Spring train hobby / layout projects?

Happy Spring - it arrives today, March 19 at 11:06 PM
There have been no posts on this thread regarding Spring cleaning - that must mean that everyone's train area / layout must be neatly organized already.
Since my move to another house, my trains have been arranged in boxes, waiting for a layout to appear. The boxes in the train room are organized along the walls and in the closet. Not much fun - I'm waiting to create some disorder. Alfred -

Will you be doing any train hobby related Spring cleaning? What are your anticipated Spring train hobby / layout projects? Oh, boy -- what *doesn't* need attention? In no particular order: - My main craft workbench is *desperately* in need of cleanup and reorganization, having suffered multiple instances of just shoving stuff aside to make room for the latest project. Just sorting through the piles and putting stuff in the appropriate place will be the work of several days. - My latest obsession, the animation showcase, has been stalled of late, with multiple animation pieces (most bought cheaply in used and in some cases broken condition) needing repairs before they've been restored to full functionality. - My small fleet of mostly postwar Marx engines needs evaluation and maintenance, and I suspect several will need more skilled attention than I can give them, so will need to be shipped out for rebuilds. I could (and probably *should*!) go on, but I'm depressed already . . .

Usually over the spring and summer I will do some maintenance on the layout and upgrade or change a good part of the scenery to get ready for train season in the fall. Looks like I may add 6-10 buildings and changing location of many more.

Most of my spring cleaning occurs outdoors. I tend to do much of my cleaning, neatening up in the train room in winter.

I feel train season slipping away. Late October through mid April is my most favorite time of year because I can spend a lot of time in the basement working and playing with trains.
As the warmer and longer days arrive, my train time lessons and takes a back seat to outdoor work and activities. I look forward to rainy weekends so I can be basement bound.

Having a lot of different hobbies helps. Trains is one of my favorites, but I am fine to slow down on that hobby while the wife and I focus on the garden and taking longer and more interesting hikes.

I can agree with that...I have more interests than time, lol. The roadsters come out of the garage in the next 30 days and the garden gets tilled; once that happens, the basement layout sees little action until fall.

You have almost made me depressed by considering your list; however, I think you have some interesting animation projects to work on. Best success. Alfred . .

Dave, best wishes on your construction projects. Are you developing a theme, or just looking for new items in general? Alfred

Adam, good strategy. Outdoors? - maybe a garden railway? You can then launch real rockets. Alfred

It’s probably not worth the effort out here anyway. Too much play litter, wild animals and crazy weather.

Will you be doing any train hobby related Spring cleaning? What are your anticipated Spring train hobby / layout projects? Last couple days been boxing up a lot of locomotives that were used during the winter months. Will be switching them out with locos that have not been run for a year or longer.
