Anyone running Postwar locomotives along with their modern locomotives. I typically will be running a couple through the week. My inside main line is set-up for Prewar and Postwar locomotives and rolling stock. No switches, which really raise heck with sliding shoes, tend to snag them. This past week I had a Lionel LV 44 tonner and A Kusan Alco running the rails. Bill

Ive got a handful of them but dont run them very often. Limited train run time these days so the newer stuff tends to get the track time.

Yes I still have some post war that I run every now and then. A NYC f3 aba is my favorite and the oldest train I have. Received it in 1950 from mom and dad.

While predominantly prewar, we run quite a bit of postwar as well (even some MPC and Modern era stuff too). Hands down favorite postwar here is a 2046 Hudson, refurbished from dreadful condition: The loco was a York-find, basically a bunch of bits in a box. Someone had dropped it at some point, bending (but not breaking) the cab roof, and the smokebox front, pilot truck, and a few other minor bits were missing. Managed to get the roof bent back into shape, and a replacement for the casting and the pilot truck in the loose part bins at Strickler's in Hanover, PA, then a judicious repaint. The tender is an undecorated Williams repro of the S-2 tender (2671W, I think), decaled using a prewar Hudson tender repro, then given an overspray of satin/matte. It runs and smokes terrific, but that True-Blast II whistle is a bit jarring

I still have and run the 2037 my dad bought me back in 63. I also have a 671 turbine. I run them when I'm in the mood.

We have a 681 Turbine: You gotta have a Turbine in the postwar collection to consider it credible, lol. This was another one in pretty rough shape...it got a respray, new cab ladders, and a new repro tender shell. It runs well, but the smoke unit needs work. I'm realizing that I'm a real bottom-feeder condition-wise when it comes to postwar. Fortunately, they clean up well.

Hey af, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with railfans: Prewar Lionel 1664E on the point, heading south...

My layout runs one postwar locomotive, a Jersey Central FM, but most are 80's and 90's MPC Lionel F3 (NYC) . Williams Alco (PRR), K-Line RS3 (Reading) , Lionel RS3 (Weaver LV body) , Lionel LLC 5340, CNJ FM, MPC GG1,(PRR) , early Williams Lackawanna FM, MPC GP CNJ all conventional. On the shelf are about 40 other engines (MPC) Lionel and PW. Layout is about fallen flag eastern railroads

I don’t have any postwar at home, but when the O Gauge conspiracy gets together at our local club we run a whole bunch of donated trains. We’ve been slowly working through the group, fixing up as we go. Here’s our revived C&O switcher hauling some cars from my Fallen Flag GN set. Dave

I also have the C&O 624 NW switcher, probably my best running Postwar locomotive.

I run exclusively post war Lionel locos / engines. Some of my favorite steamers / diesels that I run include: 736 2-8-4 Berkshire (ca. 1953, with Magnetraction), 671 6-8-6 S2 Turbine (ca. 1946, with smoke bulb and red 6200 Keystone, dual-worm Atomic motor), 2046 4-6-4 Hudson-type (1950-1, 53), 2328 Burlington GP-7 (1955-56), 627 Lehigh GE 44 ton ()1955-7. The 736 was my first train at age 6. The 671 makes a racket when it traverses O22 switches – to the extent that you could imagine Bakelite chips flying off the switch and the rails bbeing dented. The 2046 , like the 671 does not have Magnetraction, is a good puller. Although I head my 2500-Series Aluminum passenger set with the 736, I also use the 2328 diesel for passenger service; however, it is used most for freight service. The GE 44-ton I like using to pull tankers and hoppers, I like it for use with work trains. I am sorely missing a Lionel 2321 FM TM. Alfred – old man running old trains.

Most but not all of mine are MPC copies. Yes I do run them.

Well, since I run almost exclusively Marx rolling stock (other than my newly acquired Williams GG-1, a handful of trolleys and a lone Lionel steamer), most of my stuff is postwar -- a clutch of 333s, 666s, 999s, 1666s, and 1829s, both in smoking and non-smoking versions (and one side smoker). Currently, I'm running two 1829 smokers on the main lines, pulling consists of most of my childhood set, with three trolleys running on the other two tracks. My secondary layout is host to my first pre-war tinplate streamliner, an M10005. So, yeah, I can truthfully say I run postwar stuff!
