I found this undecorated engine on ebay for a good price. I've been wanting an engine to head my Menards Army consist and this will fit the bill nicely. It arrived this morning and looks and runs great. Next will be to open her up and give her a good check over, cleaning and lubrication. Based on how well it ran I don't think it will need much. I've also got some decals on order and will post progress as I go.

Nice. Now all you need on the layout is a small Military Staging area. Can't wait to see it after you apply the Decals, so make sure we get some pics.

I will certainly share pics as I go, unless, of course, it turns out terrible. In that case, I will delete the thread and deny that it ever existed. As for a staging area, not a bad idea! Let me think about that.

I will highlight that I am not aiming to decorate this engine prototypically. I haven't found much on the Internet showing protypical Army engines and the little I did find had very basic decoration, mostly just "UNITED STATES ARMY" lettering. I'm just planning to make it look as good as I can and have fun with it. This seems to be what some of these engines looked like. If anyone has other photos please do share.

Hmmm! That last pic must not be on a base. ALL military are usually in uniform although a special division for the railroads I believe. SHE is NOT in uniform it appears. LOL

The engines I saw on base were very basically decorated. Just US ARMY and number. Now if you were in the service you could put on your serial number. Friend from decades ago did that.

Take some of things you have seen from several pictures and add them to yours. The yellow/black safety stripes for instance. It would look nice against the dark body. Of course its your engine so do what you want. Look forward to the finished product.
