First things first. The bell needed to be bronze. Before punting I gently washed the shell to make sure there is no dust or grime where the decals and paint would go. A touch of Testors gold and a steady hand got the job done. I expect the decals to arrive today and hope to apply the first couple this evening.

That's a good first item to deal with. I have a Williams NW-2 in a WM "Fireball" scheme that's on the project pile. The Western Maryland never operated an NW-2, but no matter...I've been looking at giving it a bit of a weather-job. I'm watching your progress here.

Decals arrived. I used decals from k4decals.com/. They didn't have decals for an Army NW2, but they had Army in O-Scale and that was enough for me. Great resource for decals if you are looking. First set of decals went down very easy! I applied some microsol so that they can settle into the details and they are now drying. Tomorrow I will do the other side, then a seal coat and we are done. Looks great @adam.
Don't be afraid to do another application of Micro Sol either tonight or tomorrow.
BUT DO IT GENTLEY. Pressure could move or tear the decal. You will find a second application will really have that decal hug every rib, rivet and contour.

Making progress. Side one got an extra touch of microsol and dried very well overnight. Side 2 now has decals and is in the drying process. I was a bit more careful to cut more of the excess material around the print this time. These seem to be much higher quality decals than I have used before. I'm impressed with them.

What I do after Decal is in place and satisfied with position, take the edge of a paper towel and just touch edge of the water that surrounds the Decal. Then a drop of microsol on decal. Then when dry as mentioned, another drop. I noticed lately on many decals that they have a larger then before film around them, so yes, I try to trim as close as possible also.

Here is another tip. Sorry I'm late with it... Gloss coat your model BEFORE decals. Apply decals. Then clear coat with your preferred type (Gloss, Semi Gloss, Matte, Flat) to seal them. The first gloss coat will better hide the clear edges of the decal. Attachments:

Good tip but obviously too late. I was thinking to gloss coat now followed by matte. Would that work?

Glossy clear coat is down. I will let this dry for a few days while I await the arrival of the matte spray can (thought I had some but didn't so ordered this morning). Looking good! Attachments:
