That is interesting although the available light strings do not exactly match my SP cars. I see that there are a couple of different types of circuit boards also for different cars (which are also not available) but presumably they just rectify track power and provide constant voltage. However what that voltage would be baffles me because there are 4 different colors of LEDs on the strings and my understanding has always been that different colors may have different voltage inputs. Purely a guess, but rather than provide different voltages to different color bulbs through multiple wires in the harness, I'd wager they just used all identical white bulbs (with the matching rectified/regulated voltage) and either painted the bulbs multiple transparent colors, or used transparent colored covers. I think that must be right because the bulbs are colored even when not lit. They don’t appear to have covers so I guess they have been individually painted. And they are wired in series.

Where can I get these unique cars serviced?

Good luck on the service side for these. My boss bought a set (back when they came out) after seeing mine. For some reason he would blow the lights on the whole cars consistently. My LHS said they could get them fixed. So I took a car for testing purposes as I knew MTH was NOT repairing them due to no parts. Much to my shock he did fix it, but is definitely a different brightness. So much so that you notice it instantly.
This made me think that it must be the resistor on the board that is blowing and he installed the wrong one, but I AM NOT AN ELECTRICAL person when it comes to resistors, diodes, capacitors etc..

We have one at our Museum, which I added some Christmas Cars to it this past Holiday Season 2023.
