We went to Wintertour, the DuPont estate in Delaware on Friday. They had a tremendous train layout by the Standard Gauge Modular Group. They were running all type of tinplate and it was very well done. If you are in the area I would encourage you to check it out along with the museum featuring a exhibit of the famous designer Ann Lowe.

As mentioned, it is its own little town, just slightly NNW of Wilmington (click to expand):

To see the SGMA modules operating is something else. I think they are now regulars at the York shows. You can find them on Facebook, Youtube and at www.sgma.us Dave

I am watching this thread with caution. It could make me want to get into standard gauge tinplate if I am not careful.

You can find them on Facebook, Youtube and at www.sgma.us Dave I did not know that they exhibited at York. They were invited years ago when my friend, Pat Rolland, God rest his soul, was a member. They declined because the ED would not allow them to film their layout.

I am watching this thread with caution. It could make me want to get into standard gauge tinplate if I am not careful. It's a very slippery slope... one to which I can personally attest. I got nabbed by the tinplate bug about 10 years ago, as these trains can be both charming and addictive. However, in the course of time and practicality, I decided to sell my Standard Gauge tinplate collection in recent years. I just couldn't do justice to both O-Gauge and Standard Gauge, after I maximized the O-Gauge real estate when my train layout was built in 2017.
The last of the tinplate still on my active roster is an O-Gauge tinplate freight set in Lionel Lines blue/orange/cream colors. One by one, the Standard Gauge trains all found new homes. They were all MINT -- having only been displayed. So there are definitely buyers out there on the secondary market for these charming wonders -- especially since the new MTH hasn't shown any signs of resurrecting tinplate production in the near future.
