Hi folks,
I just received an email featuring MANY new METCA special-run announcements aimed at a very broad variety of buyers. Check them all out at:
There are some GREAT offering here. I love the enthusiasm the folks at METCA bring to the hobby. And I also love the fact that even more announcements will be revealed in conjunction with Lionel's 2024 Big Book next month. Admittedly, Lionel has much to do in its "quality" housekeeping department... which is why I love the fact that METCA is also teaming up the MTH and Atlas-O for its offerings as well. We all win when suppliers compete for our dollar.
BTW, important note to Stu at METCA: please offer some additional AC&W FREIGHT car offerings aimed at everyday buyers. LCCA offered a handful of AC&W freight cars in conjunction with its convention this past Summer. But the extremely limited production runs have made the secondary market go insane in its pursuit of those offerings. Frankly, I'm not impressed by those "extremely limited run offerings", because much of them simply become moment-in-time collectables. $500 boxcars -- if they can even be found -- do nothing for the hobby: only for the egos of a sliver of buyers with absurdly deep pockets who have more money than brains.
Bottom line: aim offerings for the masses -- not collectors. Thanks for listening.

I guess I've not been paying attention to recent production, but since when does a Lionel "6464" box car no longer have metal door-guides top and bottom? I see the same in the recent TCA convention cars.

Thanks for this info. Living in the sticks as I do, I had to do some self-eddicatin'. Firstly, I didn't know who METCA was - and then I had to look up Entenmann's: now THOSE folks are downright dangerous......to my waistline! Dave
