Been looking at quite a few website's, stores, and general for sale places.
I have Seen many good deals on freight cars, engines and general items for your layouts or collection. If you want scale or non scale cars and engines at reasonable prices check out places like TrainZ, Facebook groups, buy sell boards of several forums plus our own right here on OGF,
OF course most of the stuff I'm talking about is used but in very nice shape. If looking for something more reasonable check out Menards for NEW items at reasonable prices.
You don't have to spend alot of money for trains, they are out there but you have to search for them.
Don't jump at anything, look at the pictures, ask questions, anything missing, ask for better pictures, do they take returns, if a locomotive, are there any issues, does it run?, is it complete.
I have bought many items on the used market and have done very well by what I listed above. If something has a issue like a broken coupler, burnt out bulb, ask for a reduction in the price.
See something listed you want but the price may be a bit too high, make them a reasonable offer, you may be surprised.
Like command locomotives but legacy and proto3 are too high in price? Look at TMCC locomotives and proto2 prices are usually cheaper and they still run and sound great. BUT PLEASE KNOW WHAT YOUR BUYING, again ask questions!!
I will repeat--ask questions about the item you want to buy!
