Good Evening,
I recently acquired a Williams Burlington SD45 dummy engine. It is New Old Stock (NOS), but arrived without any paperwork. When powering up the powered unit on the layout, this engine's sound system is very loud. There is an initial minute long recording of crew talk, and sustained engine noise for a couple of minutes. Than it repeats the process continuously. I cannot find any volume control on the sound board. I am prepared to disconnect the sound, unless someone has a suggestion on how to minimize the sound. I have no way to determine how old the engine is, but it's apparent that it was an early attempt by Williams to incorporate sound on the engines. I have lot's of William's brand engines, but have not encountered this on the dummy units.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions that those with more expertise than i have might have!

Basicly that is very early Williams and I believe its QSI sound board. It's suppose to say something to the point of engine xxx your clear to go, and then you will hear engine xxx roger, then the engine sound. Now the engine sound is suppose to rev I believe as you add speed to the engine. Been a while since I have run one of those. I have one that is a scale GG1

That is exactly the recording that I hear. For whatever reason, Williams placed the sound board in the dummy engine, and sold a matching powered unit to run with it (which I do). This is my second Williams Burlington SD45 dummy. The first dummy unit only has a horn (not a very good one) but no crew sound. I really enjoy running a tandem powered unit/dummy unit combination, just would like to tone the sound down a bit.
