Ward Kimball was a Disney animator who brought Mickey Mouse, Jiminy Cricket and other characters to life. He was also a Charter member in 1954 of the Train Collectors Association and became President of the association in 1974. He donated much of his backyard Grizzly Flats Railroad including his full size steam locomotive to the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, California.
The Perris Transit Center, in recognition of his support of the museum, is dedicated to Kimball. Rarely done by Disney with their tight copyright policies, the city of Perris was permitted to decorate the transit center with Kimball’s artwork. The station is serviced by the Los Angeles Metrolink Perris Valley Line commuter trains.
It’s on my list of train venues to visit as it’s less than an hour from me. Looks like it is a large facility.
