Denny, night runs are fun. I like to operate my layout in the dark for visitors - they inevitably comment on the headlight, lighted caboose, lighted passenger cars, and the switch lanterns and controllers. Alfred

Alfred Yeah, I think that's the way to get the most out of all your hard work adding or upgrading lights to vehicles, buildings, street lights, illuminated billboards, etc., etc., and show them off to good advantage. I started out with a small, 8 watt florescent fixture to simulate nighttime lighting, but now have a color and intensity-changing smart bulb I can remotely control with an app. Here's a WS Smith Bros. TV and Appliance piece I modified some, shown in low light:
