What are your Christmas layout plans?
I will begin the execution phase of my Christmas Village this coming weekend. I have big plans to improve upon last years, with the biggest change being to get it off the ground (my back says AMEN). I have some ideas to make the detail better as well.
This is from last year.

I am putting the finishing touches on this years Christmas garden. I totally agree with you about trains on the floor. Although the Halloween layout turned out really nice it was hard on the back. This years Christmas layout is in between the floor and a table. This makes it a little easier and the kids get a better view. I look forward to seeing your layout this year Adam. Are you adding any new trains?

Woo Hoo! I have all of my Christmas stuff up already! And it isn't even the 1st of December! Made some small tweaks to my layout under the tree (usually change a little something every year to keep it fresh). And had to cut back on small scenery details this year due to having a new kat and I don't want him ingesting anything small and choking on it. Will be better next year.
New kitteh thinks EVERYTHING is his and EVERYTHING is FOOD! LOL! He is young, he will learn. He already tried to steal a couple of automobiles, but I caught him.
Learning curve ......
It's 0300hrs. So I'm hitting the rack for now. Will post a video or pics later when I wake back up. Have fun!

Beings my Christmas layout is my regular layout it is up all year. A few changes did happen this year. I changed a few buildings and set some of taller building's back a foot or so and on a platform so they were higher and it gave them some distance.

I'm tempted to leave the Christmas village up after this year, but maybe cover it with an old sheet or something so no dust settles. Afterall it lives in a room we don't use except for Christmas, formal living room.

This year we're setting up a Lionel Ready to Play Hogwarts battery set around the tree. www.lionel.com/products/hogwarts-express-ready-to-play-set-7-11960/Curiously, these sets are built to 2" gauge. Lionel came up with 2 1/8" 'Standard Gauge' over a century ago, so why the slightly smaller gauge I dunno - just being different I guess. Some tinplaters have converted sets to 2 1/8, so something might catch on here. (See video below by Steve Eastman) Dave
