Brian and Elizabeth have made a lasting impression on all of us and our hobby. To say we have all be touched by their spirit would be an understatement. While I don’t think any of us will ever stop missing Brian, he would want us to be happy and continue to share and enjoy this wonderful hobby together. I am sure he wants us to be joyful as the Christmas season approaches. What better way to do this than to do so while also remembering him along the way. Founder’s Favorite honors our founding father and his wife Elizabeth roughly once per week. Here we will focus on the aspects of the hobby that they both loved. Whether it be cars, Department 56, Santa Fe, Passenger Cars, the color yellow (his favorite), lighting, or, of course, Christmas, each episode we will focus on a different aspect of the hobby that they both loved. What to help? If you are interested in helping with this weekly thread, please send me a private message. You will pick a topic that would have been near and dear to Brian and Elizabeth and have a turn at starting the thread. We will put a schedule together and everyone who wants to help will be able to do so.
On this, our first edition of Founder’s Favorite, we will focus on our most memorable moments or experiences with Brian. I have had many memorable moments with him, making it difficult to choose just one. He was such a savvy, smart and considerate person and I learned so much from him. However, designing the OGF Engine stands out for me. We had a ton of fun thinking outside the box when we designed it. When he suggested a flame design like what some hotrodders used to do to their cars I thought he was a bit crazy. But it turned out to be an awesome design that stood out from the rest. Throughout the process, he surprised me many times with his creativity and eye for design. I learned so much from this project and I owe it all to Brian. What about each of you? What is your most memorable moment or experience with Brian?

I believe to me is Brian's devotion to the hobby and its members. That each member was special and were family. Birthdays, Anniversaries are special to each of us and Brian made sure we were remembered and congratulated with wishes as a family on these dates. We had "Star of the Week" were each week a member was recognized and we all learned more of each other.
There was so much Brian did for us and the Hobby. I never met Brian in person, but we E mailed and talked on the phone many times and felt honored when we received Christmas Cards from Brian and Elizabeth.

When it came to having something positive to say by Brian, it was not momentary, he was like that all the time. Alfred

My favorite time was when I finally found the OGF. We always talked on OGR where I first met Brian. Then after the problem on OGR and he and others left I found out he went to the MTF but everybody left there and started the OGF. It took me quite awhile to find Brian and the rest again on a forum called OGF.
I met Brian twice at York and twice the gang had dinner. It was great meeting him and others. I was impressed by Brian on how he treated people and what a nice person he was.
It was by pure luck I found the OGF and I'm glad I did.

Seven years ago we held the second annual Model Train Forum Dinner with Lee Willis as presenter. Brian was the Master of Ceremonies and made the introduction of Lee and then presented him with a Speaker's gift at the end. I'm glad we caught this on video. Brian begins at about the 30 second mark and then appears at the end of the video.

Seven years ago we held the second annual Model Train Forum Dinner with Lee Willis as presenter…. Wow, that was seven years ago? Seems like yesterday when we all crammed into the upstairs room at the former Alexander’s restaurant near the York Fairgrounds. That was fun!

My most memorable moment was the founding of the OGF. I was involved but Brian was the driving force. He was a “Mover and Shaker” who was able to take great ideas and turn them into reality. Without Brian (and Emile) there would be no OGF.
