A BCR (battery component replacement) is basically a rechargeable capacitor. A capacitor can hold its charge for a great deal longer time and theoretically has a much longer life than a traditional rechargeable battery. A dead battery introduces a risk of damage to circuitry or garbled software. A BCR should mitigate that risk. Thank you so much for educating me. I am learning a lot. If you had the option of an engine with or without Protosound which one would you choose? Definitely with. MTH did a great job on their sounds. if you can manage it, something Proto Sound 3.0 (their most recent) will be the best and most reliable. I have several Proto Sound engines and love them all. In fact, if I recall correctly, only very very early MTH didn't have Proto sound. i only have one of these engines and it is a General which I use at Christmas time.
