Although, this is my favorite time of year and always has been, it is made even more special because of my family's history with model trains, which were always put up just before Thanksgiving. Of course I have a permanent layout now, but the feeling is the same, there is just something special about the last three months of the year and trains. Moreover, I do not feel I could have coped thru the years since this forum started without it. Not only do my model trains make me happy, relaxed, etc., so does this forum and its members.
I could not imagine being without all three Trains, this Forum, and its Members. Whenever I am down which is very frequent, all I have to do is think about trains and the discussions in this forum and I get a smile on my face. When I can't sleep, I think about this forum and its discussions and my trains, and I relax to the point I can fall to sleep a happy man. There is no price you can put on this. So from the bottom of my heart, "Thank You, to all of you". Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and New Years. Heading back upstairs for the "Big Day" of finally running trains! The layout is finally at that point.

When I joined OGF it was like a breath of fresh air. Gone was the stress of some overzealous forum owner looking over your shoulder at every word you write and deleting posts that didn't agree with his business model. With OGF, the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions among hobbyists had arrived to the O gauge community. I very much enjoy the honesty of the posts and the people that write them.

Thank you, chipset, for your heartfelt thoughts. You pretty much summed up why I think we all love this hobby and this forum. There is a connection for many of us between Christmas, Family and Model Trains. I suspect for most of us that got instilled when we were young. I remember being at my cousin's house and playing with the train under the tree, the train that Santa brought me when I was 8, spending time with my uncle in the basement at his layout.
This is a great community, and I am proud to be a part of it and to call each of you my friends.

I feel the same. When the forum was being created, I wasn't sure I was going to be part of it, but the members invited me in and now it's a part of my morning along with my coffee. I also pop in during the day to see what's going on.
I don't have much of a social life except for train people and ham radio people. Trains dominate my time except the time I spend with my wife.

I agree 100% chipset35. This forum is fantastic. One of the things I really love about the people here is they are genuine and honest. I have been down and up but always loved coming here regardless of where I am in life. If I am up they share in my happiness. If I am down, they lift me up and encourage me. My greatest joy is meeting them whether in person or on line. A huge turning point on here for me that really demonstrates the people on here is their Christmas Party thrown by Emile and Jenifer ONLINE!!!! Let me honestly tell you the friendship of this forum and it's members blossoms at that event. The banter and fun had is just tremendous. If I was a rich man my one wish would be to throw a huge party where everyone would attend (I would pay for the event, transportation and housing with meals.) That is how much I have become proud to call the people here my friends. I said FRIENDS NOT ASSOCIATES!!!

There is no better feeling than going to this forum in the morning on a cold day, with a cup of coffee and your favorite breakfast. Then when done its up the stairs for me to work on the layout.
