I just received it today and I must say it was well worth the wait. Can’t believe how big it is compared to the diesels. Going to make a point to visit one of the museums to see the real thing. Going to have to redesign my little layout because some of the clearances just won’t work! Attachments:

That engine is huge!
Clearance is definitely an issue. Check for overhang on the outside of curves and the inside of curves as well.
Congratulations!

That engine is huge! Clearance is definitely an issue. Check for overhang on the outside of curves and the inside of curves as well. … It’s not only the 32” length that makes the Big Boy appear huge. It’s also a hefty frame/boiler which contributes to an immense appearance. I have Lionel’s 2-10-10-2 from a couple of years ago, which is 31” in length — just one inch smaller than the Big Boy.. But the body of the 2-10-10-2 is more like a Mallet-style — which makes for a much less overbearing appearance when compared to the Big Boy, which is simply massive. Enjoy!!!

not to distract but I have the 1st version bigboy so I noticed on this version no whistle assembly so did they move the whistle steam from original location and at rear what is the feature thats constantly blowing smoke from looks like popoff valves? and does this one have the blow down smoke near the cab? thanks in advance for any clarity on my questions and enjoy your new purchase and not sure they have a wide enough curved track to make boiler overhang look correct could be wrong on that

Twin cities Correct on both counts. And the swing on the curve is extremely wide!

I have the 4019 on order
I'm a little worried about Lionel's quality control
Were there any defects so far?

Unfortunately, I have a lot of 036 curves so the Big Boy is a no go, but I still like looking at it. It is a impressive loco be it model train or the real one.
