OK... so this is becoming a pet-peeve of mine... enough so that I don't like purchasing from sellers/dealers who place restrictions on how packages can be delivered.
Thankfully not too many folks do this. But I have noticed a few sellers/dealers lately that ship via UPS or FedEx, and they don't allow you to re-route a package to be held at a local depot -- a nice feature if you don't think you'll be home to receive the package on a particular day/time. I told one seller about this... and he told me he wants signature verification that the package was delivered. I said... OK, I get that. But do you UNDERSTAND that you can still get your signature verification, if I re-route the package to a local depot... as I'm required to sign for it when I pick up the package at the depot? Duh... he still insists on shipping with delivery restrictions.
Both UPS and FedEx provide nice features that allow recipients to customize the delivery of packages. And then we have sellers who insist on thinking they're smarter than their buyer(s)... only to muck up the delivery experience with unnecessary restrictions. So the features to customize delivery become unavailable. Seriously... I want nothing to do with these sellers/dealers anymore.
Ughhh.... sometimes people can be so difficult to deal with.

I hear ya. If you live in country and the package sits on the front porch all day YOU definitely want to re-route it to the the depot. It is like a sign o my (not so good neighbors) saying TAKE ME!

Odd how these issues pop up.
I was recently hit with an additional charge from UPS. It was for an address correction. I had the address correct, but for got to add the apartment number. The packages all go to a common mailroom in the apartment building anyway, but the apartment number was deemed necessary by UPS.
They delayed the shipment while they produced a new address label and then hit me with a $25 charge for doing so. The initial postage was $19.
We seem to get hit from both sides…

For FedEx all my packages are addressed to me C/O the local Fed EX Office location. The packages are protected from any inclement weather, not left in the hot sun, or at our garage with a 9' driveway where they could be easily and quickly spirited away. I can pick the package up within the prescribed time. I consider that a win win for me and the shipper.

For FedEx all my packages are addressed to me C/O the local Fed EX Office location. ... I needed to resort to this approach for one particular well-known dealer in Georgia. But seriously… I shouldn’t need to do this. If I’m gonna be home, I’d just as soon receive the package at home. If I’m traveling that day, I reroute the pkg to the local depot. Has worked fine that way for YEARS. Either way, the seller gets his signature confirmation. I don’t understand why sellers won’t accommodate a feature that the shipping carriers are offering. BTW… some sellers won’t do the C/O to the depot. They insist on shipping to the same address that matches the billing address of the credit card holder. THAT approach is understandable — which gets us back to allowing the buyer to re-route a pack to the depot if he won’t be home to accept delivery. Oh well.

Well at least it's being delivered to the correct address. Package that was for my wife was delivered to the house across the street which is a rental. It sat there for a week before my wife decided to see if it was hers and it was. UPS quality.

This is interesting, as I've not run into this problem (perhaps because I rarely order anything that 1-won't fit in a shoebox and 2-is shipped via UPS or FedEx). Something to be mindful of, however.
