I thought we were done with this. At least new variations are supposed to be milder.
I've had all the shots, I've contracted COVID twice before so I'm supposed to have natural immunity as well.
I thought I was safe. I thought wrong.
Last week I tested positive for COVID. This is my third time. It wasn't milder. I just spent the better part of a week in bed. Sick as a dog.
Worst of all: I had to miss York!
This is my public service announcement: Talk to your Doctor and see if there is an effective vaccine.
If you do contract COVID, call your Doctor right away so they can give you new medicine to lessen the impact.
I waited three days and by then it was too late to start the new medicine. I wish I had acted earlier.

Sorry to hear that, hope your feeling better. I got the flu shot about a month ago and so far I have been fine. I thought something happened to you because I didn't see you at York and you were not posting. Well get well and stay that way.

Sorry to hear that Emile. Hope it’s all behind you at this point.
Unfortunately I think this thing and all it’s ongoing variants are here to stay.

Hope you’re feeling better, Emile. Paxlovid (prescription required) is supposed to get folks back on their feet VERY quickly. I felt like a new man the next day after taking it. But I called my doctor the first day I felt off. So we got a good jump on things.

Emile, your announcement seems a bit odd as you look happy and healthy in your photo. But seriously get better soon. We can tell that you are improving already because you feel well enough to post again! Always a good sign. While your illness was certainly no fun the silver lining for the rest of us was that we did not have to worry about you buying something at York that we may have wanted!

Thanks everybody. If there’s a lesson here, it’s to get to your Doctor as soon as you suspect something is wrong. That way you can get a paxlovid prescription and save yourself from a lengthily illness. I’ll remember that for the future.

Easier said than done these days with all the virus bugs floating around these days! Just drink more wine and/or gargle with bourbon; just don't spit. Swallow!

I agree that Paxlovid is a kind of wonder drug! I contracted Covid about 2 weeks after starting a new job (ignorant co-worker was the culprit, believing in Herd Immunity crap). Well the ENTIRE office, only 5 folks, were out for about 2 weeks. Hope you get better, Emile, and keep up with vitamins, Gatorade to replenish electrolytes, and of course the doctors advice. People can be carriers and NEVER get ill!

Sorry to hear of your illness, Emile, especially since we happen to live in the same general area! Yeah, with COVID's proven ability to mutate, there's still no sure-fire way to completely avoid it unless you're willing to fully quarantine, but fortunately the available vaccines, treatments and tests have made it a lot less scary than it was a few years back, when we were (mostly!) in "duck and cover" mode. It seems COVID is indeed heading for the "seasonal flu" category of illnesses -- always unwelcome, but relatively seldom serious or fatal as long as sound medical advice is promptly followed. In any event, thanks for the heads-up, and best wishes for you and your co-workers' and family's full and speedy recovery!

I wish I had acted earlier. A person I work with has not taken off her mask since 2020 when COVID all started and has not caught it until 4 weeks ago. She had all the vaccines etc. She did not know until the following Monday she was sick and got tested asap. They sent us a notice at work asking if anyone had been near her that past Friday. I had taken off that day (thank god I did) , but one of my teammates that works in the same room as her and I was sitting next to her and felt sick that Monday and was out 2 week. After 2 week out, both were cleared by her doctor to come back. Despite getting all the shots and vaccines I refuse to be a guinea pig for the Government and will not get them anymore. Also, I have not caught covid due to the following IMHO: I take a liquid Zinc supplement on the morning and evening of my 3 work days, as well as vitamin D and C. Also, rinse throat and mouth with Listerine mouthwash morning and evening. My wife came up with this concoction and it seems to work.
