I have to say I had a wonderful time this time. Saw lots of friends and enjoyed it immensely. Saw lots of trains I would like to have but not what I was really looking for. Saw most of the buildings. Got there at 9:30 and stayed till 6:30. I did get some containers for my intermodal cars, needed 12 but only found 4. Back to the hunt. Did rent a scooter and it was great, with my back and knees it was great and allowed me to see what I wanted to see. Can't wait till April.

Sounds like you had a good time, Dave. I visited on Thursday for a few hours… and the Orange Hall was only lightly attended — nothing like Allentown ATMA, which is typically wall-to-walk enthusiasts from 8am to well past 12noon. Allentown is quickly becoming the go-to, preferred show for me. But I do give tons of credit to the EDTCA for organizing such a large show that continues to evolve.
Around 12:30PM Thursday, the fairgrounds parking lot was quite full, but the crowds must have been in the member halls — because they certainly weren’t in the Orange Hall, which is the only hall I visited.
Nice chatting with a few friends I ran into while strolling casually. And Clyde and Dianne from Stockyard Express we’re back after missing the last two York shows. Also enjoyed talking with the crew at Henning’s Trains. Brothers Harry and Bill just returned back from a cross-country trek where they flew out west and drove back east with the late Lionel CEO/President Bill Bracy’s train collection and are now in the process of selling it.
I’ll post a bit more when I get back to my home office.
BTW, Dave… what size containers are you looking for? I may have several for sale in Allentown next month. See you there!!!

Another fabulous York Meet! For me it’s impossible to not have a great time! Seeing everyone who have become friends and meeting new friends, some great meals with a bunch of great people and of course all the trains.
For the first Meet in over twenty years I thought I wasn’t going to find anything I wanted to buy. But then, lightning struck on Saturday afternoon like it usually does. Over the years I’ve done a majority of my purchases on the last day of the Meet. I guess it’s just the way I shop. The Voices were fairly quiet this time. When you walk the many aisles full of trains all over the place it can be like being snow blind. All the boxes look the same, unless you find something special. While the Saturday ‘crowd’ was more robust than usual, it allowed me a more leisurely pace. I then discovered a few items in the Orange (dealer) Hall that I must have walked past three or four times without noticing. Since they were still available that had to mean they were meant to come home with me!! None of them was on my floating wish list.
Just when I thought I would be leaving the Meet empty handed I discovered a few items I didn’t know I needed. That’s the magic of the TCA York Meet!!!
Sunday we hang out with my new Grandson one last time before heading home Monday. He will be getting his first train. A toy train that he can learn shapes and dexterity taking it apart and rebuilding. My York treasures will arrive home later this week, thanks to the UPS table in the Silver Hall lobby!

The Fall York attendance numbers were announced to be 7200. Still enough to have a nice sized meet but I remember that days when this show drew 13,000.

7200 was the number of registrations. It’ll be interesting to see what the public admissions numbers are. There were a bunch of young families there on Friday and Saturday.
Those days of 13,00+ happened before the internet made it easier to buy trains. Not because of the hobby dying.

The Fall York attendance numbers were announced to be 7200. Still enough to have a nice sized meet but I remember that days when this show drew 13,000. Dennis, I think a train show like York is vastly becoming whatever each of us makes of it. My mass acquisition phase of toy trains is long past its prime. So I’m less enamored by a sea of tables with trains on it vs. those attendees building their collection nowadays. Having said that though, the small number of items I’m drawn to can still be quite expensive. So I wonder how the young kids afford all the goodies they want these days. YouTube videos are already posted that show a tour of the Orange Hall, and some show the prices I mentioned about Lionel E-8’a in an earlier post. But no comment was made about the high price as compared to other dealer prices at much lower levels. Perhaps that was done intentionally to keep the tone of the video upbeat. However I do think there’s value-add to offer one’s observations vs. just going ooh—ahh while panning the camera across a sea of trains. But that’s just me. Bottom line… I give the EDTCA a lot of credit as they navigate new waters with respect to an evolving Yorkntrain show. 7,000+ attendees is still a lot of folks, a dni can only imagine all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making York a success twice each year!!!
