No longer attending but always interested in reading the York reports that feature new product info, who's there, attendance figures etc etc. Have fun everyone.

Leaving the house shortly...should get to the fairgrounds around 0900. Hoping the rain holds off.

I'm in York, ran into Brian a few times. Had a chance to chat with JDStucks and saw RBP, but didn't get a chance to talk to him.

Blitzed York in five hours and, despite my best efforts, still came home with an armload of stuff. Spent a bit of time jaw-boning with a number of folks, one being Dave Johnston re: motors for prewar Flyer and how best to recondition my uncle's 3322 steamer. I need to make a serious effort to knock down the project pile this winter...it's almost overwhelming, lol.

I stopped by the Orange Hall on Thursday afternoon. When I pulled into the fairgrounds parking lot, things looked quite busy/healthy. But when I walked into the Orange Hall, you could have driven a car down the aisles. Not very crowded at all. So I'll conclude much of the parking lot crowd had to have been in the member halls, which I didn't visit. Makes a lot of sense, since I've been saying for a few years now that York is reverting back to its "swap meet" roots as opposed to a trade show atmosphere.
What I found so perplexing was some of the pricing in the Orange Hall. I don't know what some sellers are smoking. The most blatant example of "buyer beware" pricing was the newly released Lionel E-8's. I saw a few dealers pricing both the AC&W as well as the Christmas E-8's at a whopping $1,499. Even Lionel's MSRP was $1199, and most of the big well-known dealers still have inventory to sell at a discounted $1079. And some of these discount dealers were just a few feet away from the clowns trying to sell them at $1,499. What's wrong with that picture???

I saw that too. Only explanation I can think of is they were waiting for a sucker. As of 1pm today there were no suckers. Still $1500 for their E8’s!!
