Thanks Dave. That's true. Now, just waiting for the PT evaluation later in the week. Alfred

Heh Alfred this may cheer you up.
A patient went into the hospital for a tonsillectomy. Unfortunately the doctor amputated his leg instead.
In making his rounds the doctor visited the patient only to be told that the patient was going to sue the doctor for malpractice.
The doctor unimpressed replied to the effect go ahead and sue me. Your case doesn't have a leg to stand on.
This has nothing to do with your injury but it may be prudent to have a patient advocate present!

on Tuesday evening on my way from work to a viewing, my Uber driver got into an accident while making a left into the funeral home. My shoulder was injured. I have gone to a doctor, and am waiting for a complete diagnosis and treatment plan. In the meantime, my right arm is nearly useless. If I were able to make it under the layout extension in the attic to get to the control area, I would have to operate the trains one-handed. Alfred That is emergency room criteria! Hope you get well soon. Take care of yourself and get that checked asap

I have to go to physical therapy twice a week for about 6 to 8 weeks, at which time, the extend of rotator cup damage can be re-assessed to see if any other treatment will be needed. The shoulder and arm area are still painful; however, I am getting used to it. I will make this my last post, so as not to bore everyone. If other significant developments occur, I will post. In the meantime, I am trying to do things one-armed – including working on the layout. Alfred

Update: The physical therapy reached a limit about six weeks ago. After a recent MRI and visit to the shoulder specialist, my new layout plan may need to be revised. I was looking forward to a 36” high layout that I could sit under to do wiring, etc. I think it will have to be lower, so that I can get my right arm up under the table and hold it there. I will have to live with the now limited range of motion and periodic pain –two tendons are detached; and reverse shoulder replacement is the only fix. Forget about that – I‘ll enjoy the trains the way I always have. Alfred

Thanks Bill. The other driver was going pretty fast; we got T-boned - I'm glad that I was not in the front passenger seat. I am as recovered as I am going to get. All I can think about now is how to get the lumber up to the second floor. I may just have to have someone else do that for me - that drives me crazy. Alfred

Great to see you making plans after such a frustrating accident. I decided to make compromises building my layout and avoided anything to do with working underneath. I mounted all my wiring on the surface - I’ve been practising digging cable-trenches in my foam top with a hot foam cutter. All the best for your continued recovery, Alfred.

Hope you feel better, Alfred! If you’re not going to get the surgery then just enjoy the pain. After all, we’re model railroaders. We sweat, we bleed and we pay the price and we love it. WOOOOO!!

Dave (firewood), glad to hear about your surface wiring accommodation. What an idea! Alfred

Brian (traindiesel), blood, sweat, , tears, and pain - life and the train hobby. So, what is the big deal about handling the throttle with the left hand! Thanks for your perspective. Alfred
