Being a tinplater, I shouldn't even make this comment, but does that paint scheme look weird, specifically the bit over the side louvers behind the cab? Looks like a big gap in the Warbonnet motif (or is it me)?

Looks like a big gap in the Warbonnet motif (or is it me)? The thing is, an eight year old getting this set probably won’t ask that question.  It’s a nice offering from Menards. They should have added at least one freight car to the set. But they’re not difficult to pick up at their price point for extra cars.

I'm done buying Menards engines as MTH PS1 is a far better choice. My 2 unit UP AA set started squealing after a few hours use and I haven't opened them up to see why. I also have 2 of the SF units. One started squealing after a few hours use. That one had a loose worm on a armature shaft. Tightened the allen screw that retains it and serviced the trucks as they were bone dry. That last one I have opened it up to service trucks and both plastic worm gears were split in half on the shafts. A real shame that they decided on using plastic gears instead of metal. I gutted those trucks and electronics as now it's a dummy. I also stripped and re-painted those units into the milwaukee road and now have some spare parts.

It's disappointing they couldn't find a way to throw in a couple boxcars in as well, but I'm sure they wanted to keep to the $249 price point and couldn't make it work by having the extra cars. It's just hard to spend that much and not get a full train set.
