… How many recent releases have had mechanical issues; cosmetic issues? Just within the last few moths there have been dust ups over the Trainworld Katy special run diesel, the Lionel AC&W diesel, and even the Lionel Fezziwig Camelback paint jobs/schemes. This is on premium Legacy models not RTR. What is the problem? … Off hand, I’d say Lionel is producing far too many SKU’s, and they’ve lost complete control of their production facilities — not to mention I believe they’re now using factories in China, Korea and Vietnam. I wouldn’t wanna be a product director working under those conditions, where the tail is constantly wagging the dog. It’s a no-win scenario in spades.

David, it sounds like you’re trying to talk yourself out of buying a couple of these beauties. Don’t fight it anymore. Just listen to the Voices. They’ll council you, they understand you. It’s sooo much easier to give in and enjoy the trains.

No,no, don't listen to the wicked witch from the west, he will lead you to ruin. Don't listen to those voices. Unless you want to. But once you get one of those triplexs you must post videos. Good luck on your choice.

Even as these engines are getting more complex, the current technology being used is not without significant performance short falls often enough as to be a concern. The thought that I am even considering the Halloween version of the Triplex has me thinking I must be off my nut. Forget wheel slippage, I should be back pedaling. You know, I don't want to discourage you but I really don't get that Halloween model at that price point. But if you want it, go ahead - but not to encourage Lionel. I'm absolutely convinced that they will sell a boatload or two of Triplexes so you should only get one if you really, really want to. Agreed. Lionel seems to have us right where they want us. And it is our own darn fault too!

Once Bryce Harper fled DC for big bucks it was go away Phillies for me. And yes I used to go to games at Connie Mack stadium and pass by the Tasty Cake factory often as a youngster.

He would have to be out of his mind to turn down $330 million over ten years.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I’m leaning toward the D&RGW version of Lionel’s new Triplex offering — even though it’s a fantasy “what if” model. Unfortunately, green coloring schemes in Lionel’s catalogs have left much to be desired relative to what’s actually produced in the final product at their overseas factory. So that doesn’t exactly leave me with a warm-and-comfy feeling.
However, at York this past week I got a first-hand glimpse of Lionel’s D&RGW Legacy Mogul offered by METCA. And if this is any indication of the color scheme that will be produced on Lionel’s VisionLine D&RGW Triplex, I’d say we’ll have a winner. At least it shows the factory is CAPABLE of doing it right!!!
Here are a few quick iPhone snapshots of the Mogul I saw at York…So with fingers crossed, I think I feel a bit better about pre-ordering a D&RGW Triplex. Let’s HOPE Lionel’s Triplex factory — most likely in Korea — won’t throw us any unpleasant surprises!!!

For Pennsy fans who might be thinking about Lionel’s recently announced VisionLine Triplex, I hear Brady’s Trains is considering a custom-run in the Pennsylvania RR livery. Mr Muffin’s Trains met with lots of success selling his custom-run Pennsy RR Class A offering. So Brady’s Pennsy Triplex might be equally popular.
One never knows for certain. But this is now the third VisionLine Triplex custom-run I’m aware of: Mr Muffin is doing two US Army variations, and Brady is putting feelers out for this Pennsy.
