Over the past few years I have picked up - at train shows - a number of the Lionel ""Good Geacuse It's Hershet" boxcar - Lionel 6-9041 -
Many are showing their age and along the way have picked up a bit of dust - dirt - and such
Now the quetion - How do I clean the up - bring bac the new as far as possible
Thanks - SorenK

In my experience, only a mild soap, a bit of water, and a soft brush is absolutely safe. For tinplate, I've used Meguiar's Cleaner-Wax with some success; it will generally remove dirt and restore a shine, but I still try mild soap and water first. For postwar, just soap and water.
