Has anyone successfully matched the grey color of Lionel Fastrack? During a move, the mover accidentally spilled white paint on several pieces of track. I thought it would be easier to paint over it then to try to strip it. Thanks!

Maybe bring a piece of it to a hobby shop and someone who knows paint can help you find a match. Or just go by the color of the spray can tops. Even if you just get close it might be good enough.

Unless the spill is minimal by the time you go through going somewhere, trying to match the color, buying the paint, brush and tape to mask off the ties and rails, then painting the Fastrack ballast you could probably buy new track for less money. What is your time worth? Of course you could just try to remove the paint chemically as the Fastrack ballast color is not painted on. Then again you could model a derailment section on your layout and claim a Haz Mat spill! Adding a little day glow green or orange color would enhance the effect!

Try acrylic paint at places like Michaels and hobby lobby. I have found colors there to match many items like a SD70ACE that had a big thumb print one the roof of the cab from trying to glue a cab shade on. To my amazement I found the exact color at hobby lobby. It matched exactly.
Btw it was not my thumb print lol.

Okay - the Hazmat suggestion made me laugh out loud! Now I just need to add a third mutated arm to the train conductor
An earlier post suggested that I go to Lowes to get a paint scan. They matched the color and I bought a quart of paint - early returns are promising!
