If you have multiple loops, do you one one train in the opposite direction? Or all loops in same directions?

Hmm, something I haven't put much thought into actually. I have 3 loops and all trains run in the same direction. I guess I've done that out of habit though. I don't see why I couldn't change that up.

I have four loops on one part of my layout and try to run trains in opposite directions. This cause people to look around a little more as they can't just follow one train and see the complete layout because they are all running in opposite directions. I have occassionaly run them all in one direction but only if I am by myself doing switching and other things.

They run them in the same direction at the club. It kind of annoys me so I run mine in the opposite direction.

Since I was eight years old I ran trains in a different direction on each loop.

I’ve run trains in opposite directions since I was a kid. I find it far more visually interesting than when trains run in the same direction. I always run them right handed, exactly like we drive everywhere in the world except for British countries and territories.
P.S. It’s your railroad and you should run your trains in whatever way you prefer.

Thanks all, I was just curious, the question was like a pole I guess.

I have multiple loops. Sometimes the track tells you which way to operate. The train derails in one direction and not in the other. I do what the train tells me to do.

Keith, Right now I have two independent loops and I like running them in opposition; however, I do run some consists in opposite directions. When I get around to separating into blocks some areas of the layout to have 3 to four loops, I will run trains in opposite directions. Alfred

I have always had trains going opposite ways no matter how large they were or small. I think they just look better.

Wouldn't the correct answer be "Which ever way you want" ?

Wouldn't the correct answer be "Which ever way you want" ? Bill, I re-read Keith’s question and I believe it can be understood in 2 ways. I understood it to ask how I do it, which I (and others) answered, but looking at it again it could be understood to ask what is the proper way to run trains on multiple loops. I think you understood it the second way making your answer, “Whichever way you want” the correct answer.
