I was working on the layout today and in part, estimated how many more vehicles I needed to complete the streets with the density factor I am going for. We currently have about 300+ on our City streets, but need about 150 more. That's a lot of vehicles, I know, but we also have about 275 ft. of streets.
Made me wonder how many vehicles you have on your layouts?

WOW! Didn't know I had this many. I always thought I had about 50-60 vehicles. I counted 101 on layout. But rest assure no car jacking nor stolen vehicle or even a high speed chase have occurred on layout to date. Have a tough no nonsense police and State Troopers on duty 24/7.

You got that right, Don.

With all the new vehicles you must have to start driving early. Posting before 6:30 and getting an early start. Are you still delivering Christmas trees or does Capt Balsam offer a pick-up service and then sell the used trees to duck hunters for brushing their blinds?

I too am an early bird. I do my workout and spend some time in the train room before 6am, when the rest of the clan rises.

No pick up service, Bill. CT Balsam is probably on a beach now where it is a lot warmer than NYC. He reports a banner year for the 2019 Christmas season that he attributes to the significant increase in his fleet of red pickup trucks. But, he went on to say that it still did not fill the ever growing demand for his fine line of Christmas Trees. So, he has ordered a dozen more pickup trucks. And, that may not be enough.

Looks like you have a growing fleet of silver pickup trucks, Vern.

Looks like you have a growing fleet of silver pickup trucks, Vern. Good eye, Brian. Yes, parked behind that 1930s Yellowstone Park bus are 3 Ford pickups that came as Lionel flat car loads. The grandkids would rather play with them than watch them go around the layout on flat cars.

I just counted 49 vehicles on the layout. I could use about 10 or 15 more.

I had about 40 of them around the layout. And one day I came down and they all disappeared?! I asked the kids where did they all go? … and then they smiled and opened one of the many 50ft box cars I had on the layout... and they were all in the box cars.

Very creative kids, John.
