We seem to always ask what we want Lionel to make. Lets change it up and ask everyone, what would you like to see Mth make.
My choices would be:
Although I like scale cars the scale husky stacks are just too big for my O42 curves so I would like to see more RK husky stacks, well made, they look right on my curves and they are well detailed. I have 4 and would like to pick up 5 or 6 more. Don't mention eBay because the prices are way too high. Most of the sellers are out of their mind.
I would like to see more space and NASA items.
How about you guys, what would like to see?
Dave

I'm pretty tapped out from York and post-York purchases. Along with some pre-orders hanging out there and some previous Lionel and MTH recent items that I'm on the fence for.
But none of those are on this wish list!
MTH Premier w/ Proto 3 or Lionel w/Legacy
PRR 2-10-2 N1s Strasburg RR 4-8-0 #475
FP7: Amtrak, Milwaukee Road (Hiawatha), PRR, SEPTA, Penn Central
Reading Crusader scale set w/ 21" cars
San Diego North County Transit Coaster set
Amtrak E60 Amtrak Siemens Charger (Surfliner) I know 3Rd rail has orders for these but I'd prefer PS3 or Legacy Command Control
SEPTA Subway/Elevated sets
SEPTA Silverliner Commuter train sets
SEPTA Kawasaki single-end LRV SEPTA Brill Bullet cars
Metroliners: Penn Central, Amtrak
Rail Diesel Cars (RDC) scale sets (any and all roads)
F7 ABBA: Penn Central
FP45: Santa Fe, Amtrak

I am a huge MTH fan. Honestly I prefer premier but do agree that for smaller radius curves Rail King is the way to go. Also Rail King has the price point. I prefer the Premier and would love more diesels. I know most people prefer steam but I am a diesel man myself. I would like to see Penn Central F units and a passenger set to go with it. Rolling stock wise I am not really picky. I guess I am more or less maxed out and I know the conductor would love me to slow down (really Slow) on the new purchases.
Anything Norfolk Southern grabs my attention and I am ALL IN for another NS Business train.

They did make it... The 0-8-8-0 Angus... That's great. then they priced it way out of my budget... Oh well, If they make it. the question then becomes, can you afford it...

MTH still owns the tooling for their bi-level and Superliner passenger cars. I have been lobbying them to make another run of Superliners -- especially a set of Rocky Mountaineer cars using their high-level lounge cars with the glass top and a transition step-up/down car to simulate Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf service -- for several years now. Yet it has gained no traction whatsoever, despite friendly discussions with Rich and Andy at York. I even have a dealer lined up to back a custom-run of Rocky Mountaineer cars that could be produced along side MTH offering regular-run Superliners in other liveries (such as Amtrak). The Rocky Mountaineer paint-masks already exist, and the Superliner versions would only need solid gold paint above the regular-height paint mask. But zippo, zilch, nada. So now I'm not sure it will ever happen.
I'm actually quite frustrated by the entire process -- especially when the OGF can't even get straight info from MTH regarding the OGF's latest club flat-car offering with PUP trailers. Last December we were told they were "on the water"... then a month ago, we find they're still scheduled for production this Summer. Seriously... what gives with that kind of mis-information? I don't like it one bit. Look... I'm glad to see MTH is still around. But I don't like the business model and the behind-the-scenes machinations that must be tolerated along the way. Sorry... but I'm speaking from experience... and that's just the way I feel. OTOH, I know Lionel has caused the OGF some grief at times too with club offerings. So it seems everyone has issues with overseas manufacturing these days. I guess it comes with the turf, whether we like it or not.

I would like to see 6 packs of premier rolling stock, 40' box cars would be nice.

I would like to see 6 packs of premier rolling stock, 40' box cars would be nice. I’d like to see six packs of trash containers on flat cars. I used to see long CSX trains of these rolling through Newark, Delaware.

I will assume that the question should be "remade" as in not new tooling, but if they do or can great.
My interest is streamline passenger trains and probably the one I am looking for (at a greatly reduced price...LOL) is a PS1 Santa Fe Blue Goose. MTH did a wonderful job on the few streamline steam engines and even if they remade the Blue Goose Hudson it would be a very hard purchase as a few years ago I decided to focus on TMCC only engines.
So, if I can find any MTH engine that I want, it will be upgraded to TMCC and that (for me) is just part of the cost.
Aside from the Santa Fe Blue Goose, I do agree with the above that the 18 inch bi-levels would seem to be a good candidate based on my interest and the interest of my local modeler friends. 21 inch bi-levels would be nice, but I know there would be fewer purchasers.
There are a few other accessories that "I" would like to see remade, but I suspect my "want" is just not a high enough demand for MTH to remake unfortunately.
I may have to revisit this and add a few more.

I'm also curious about what Premier engine and passenger car tooling MTH still owns, and Rockymountaineer's post above about manufacturing SNAFUs really gives me pause. I doubt that we'll see remakes of my fave MTH engines - the Triplex, DDA40X and UP 80 Coal Turbine - because there were multiple runs of each before MTH went into its current incarnation. Versions of these are available on the secondary market and I suppose that it could be that any maker would conclude that the market is already saturated. A buyer might conclude that a purchase is risky because of potential lack of parts support from MTH. I already have these engines and indeed some spare boards for the Turbine so I am more or less content to be on the sidelines.
I certainly wouldn't be about the Rocky Mountaineer cars. I can say by way of creating hope for David and others who want these that I agitated with Lionel for years on end for a Legacy (or even better VL) version of the Veranda Turbine. I never got a straight answer from them but lo and behold 20+ years from its original TMCC version they came out with a Legacy one.
