On a scale of 1-10, how do you rate the level of satisfaction with your layout?
For me, a "10". I put a lot of time into planning this one. I do not make this rating lightly. I corrected many mistakes from the past. I also laid out some impressive challenges. Since the layout would include two very different themes, Christmas in the City and our version of the Polar Express Movie, that in itself would present a big challenge to blend the two with enough separation to make it professionally presentable.
The CIC portion of the layout, I believe is one of the best ever done in O-Gauge with the replication of NYC in the 50's. We have made several upgrades since we initially finished it in 1918 that only made it better. In terms of the Polar Express side, I think it is probably the best of it's kind in O-Gauge honoring the PE Movie.
Goal this year is to return to normal as much as possible given all of the health issues we both faced over the past 8 months. We want to open the layout again to guests and share the hobby with as many as we can.
One final note, if your rating for your layout is not where you would like it to be, do you have plans to make improvements to get the rating where you would like.

A little surgery here and there along with the usual maintenance and fix-ups, but I'm well up the satisfaction index. My layout will likely not grow, but I have my structures and scenery figured out. I gain a lot of satisfaction just sitting, watching and listening to the trains run - something I've never had in the many years of being in this hobby. I always had shelf-switchers due to little space but now I can run a train to my heart's content.

My satisfaction index is about 9. It’s the best O gauge layout I’ve ever built and as close to ideal as I’ll get. I thoroughly enjoy running trains on the layout. If I had a bigger space I would have used bigger curves. I think trains look better running on broader curves, but I don’t have room for bigger curves.

Mine was a 7. I had what I needed, but not satisfied with just flat running. I wanted bridge(s), and a rise on at least one track. Many times in my yard with all the switches I didn't need to accomplish what I wanted in make up and storage. I had structures I really didn't need, rather replace them with some kit bashing I had done, but didn't have the space to place. Getting rid of items I didn't need is one more hurdle on what to do with them. Everything in my upcoming layout has to have a purpose, I'm a runner, not a collector. (does that make sense?).

Well, in my case I could not say 100% satisfied because it’s a carpet set-up but I will say that when everything on it works as it should I’m 9 on a scale of 10 for enjoyment.

I am fully satisfied with all of my layouts imperfections and all. As long as it gives me opportunities to tinker, improve and play with trains then I am more that happy.

I guess I am at an eight. I love what I have and can not expand any more. I just want the scenery done but that is my conductors job and I ain't pushing or she will quit. I am a runner and I love sitting and running. I make up trains and move cars and even change complete trains out at times. My current problem is time. I don't have any. Soon very soon things will slow down. It will be too hot for people to plant plants and I will not have to drive delivering them 6 days a week. For being retired I sure am busy!

My layout satisfaction index is at about 8.5 because of nagging track issues that arose from an initial sloppy build. However, the issues are slowly being resolved one at a time. The index is on the rise, because I am now running trains without major issues and making additions and improvements, It's the fun of running that keeps the index increasing.. Alfred

Though I wish my layout was longer and wider but it is not so I would say I'm a 9 on the scale of satisfaction. I can run medium sized scale trains and I'm always looking to make my scenery better and better. All in All I'm happy.

I'm going to say 9. I'm very satisfied. One point is for the things I could have done.

Considering Dunham Studios made yours truly feel like a young kid again just over 5 years ago when they magically delivered my layout in December 2017 a few days before Christmas, I’d rate the layout a solid 15 on a scale of 1-10.

I wasn't satisfied because I limited my curves and the trains I could purchase so I could have more town. So I decided to put 072 curves in and make a rail yard.

One of the finest layouts in our hobby. I am proud it have it as part of our OGF layout families.
David did a superb job in managing this project.
