Last night, my wife walked in as I was running my trains with destinations of Chicago, Ft Wayne, and New Mexico. Lights were out with only the town, with all its businesses still open accepting Christmas returns. Patrons for the Movie Theatre were attending a holdover of the Walt Disney movie "The Great Locomotive Chase", late night Church attendance was good as one could see the lights glowing through the stained glass windows. The pool hall was full watching a Champion woman take on all comers, while above Richard Diamonds Private Eye was wrapping up a case. The countryside was not as bright as city lights, but one could see a dimly lit farm house or 2 getting ready for bed because 4AM comes early. Then of course the trains coursing through the un-populated country side were only the stars and lights of the engine and glow from the filled passenger cars could be seen. The wife says, "that is so pretty" and sat down, handed me a cup of hot tea and for the next hour or so we watched the passengers trains come and go. That made a great evening before bed time.

Nope, no counciling needed at all. Sounds like the layout and passenger trains are all the therapy you need!

You see, it has now also affected your charming wife, Walter, But, that's all good. There is no turning back now.
When Elizabeth and I first met, I thought that it might be helpful for her to pass a short quiz. The questions were carefully thought out, like "which one do you prefer, freight car or passenger car"? I helped the cause by showing an old dirty frieght car against a beautiful shiny lighted passenger car. This worked like a charm and she also prefers passenger trains to freight. I suggest this method to all of you who might be in a similar circumstance.

I avoid the guilt complex associated with excluding freight and focusing entirely on passenger by adding four C&O Express boxcars directly behind the C&O Greenbrier locomotive and in front of the eight-car K Line Madison passenger consist. Also do the same arrangement with the C&O A-B-A F 3's, but am able to pull more than 10 passenger cars. Not sure if this completely alleviates the freight car exclusion problem, but the end product is nice to watch in action.

I agree with RJ, if your are not running trains then there is a problem, although I'm more of a freight train person then passenger train ,I do like Amtrak and have one track that is just for running Amtrak.
