Been thinking of adding a Budd to my layout since my hometown when the passenger train service stopped. 4 Daily Budds would pickup passengers who worked in Chicago and place between 6AM and 8AM and then a 5PM and 7PM in the evening for returning passengers.

I had a New York Central doodlebug when I was in N scale but don't have one in O mainly because I haven't ever seen one. If I ever did come across an O gauge NYC doodlebug at a reasonable price I would buy it. Budd cars would also work and I've seen them in various roads but not NYC.

I have this 3Rd Rail scale brass Reading RDC-1 powered car. Also a matching unpowered RDC-1.I also have Williams three car sets of PRR and Reading RDC cars that are semi-scale.
Also on The Penn American Railroad is a 3Rd Rail scale brass Brill Gas Electric (model 660) Doodlebug like this one pictured.

I've been wanting a Doodlebug for some time. I had a chance to buy one and I didn't jump on it.

I would like to have both. The available Budd Cars just seem a bit too short for me. The 3rd Rail RDCs are very nice, but being scale makes them very long. Something in between would be perfect. I would also like a near scale Erie gas car. They are out there in Brass, but really expensive and would be a bear to paint and decal. They had a very intricate paint scheme, with lots of stripes. I have an HO version of an RDC, as I ran real ones many years ago… Tom

The N scale doodlebug I had looked very much like the Mack AS in its original form. I would love to have that in O gauge New York Central.
