We see a lot of backyard trains that are just for fun. This one as a real job. I don't understand German, but my guess is that it moves firewood.

Feldbahn im Garten is just Field railway in the garden. Looks like the 1st 2 cars are for people to sit on and ride. In Germany they have a very efficient wood or coal burning system to heat homes. He has a lot of land and maybe the hobby is keeping him from selling some for more homes being built on it.

Interesting. Especially since the name of the manufacturing company for the Diesel engine is plainly visible. One heck of a way to move firewood.

Great stuff, Walt - I want one. Feldbahns are a great model rail rabbit-hole to explore. The real thing is so small that some guys build them in really large scale, like 1:13 (7/8”=1 ft) which uses G scale track as 2’ gauge. There’s a whole European model culture in 1:45 feldbahn too - little trains that make great models.
