The Menards Auto carrier is 14.25" flat car with super structure to hold the cars. Most of the carriers made in the past held 4 cars, the Menards car hold 6 1/48th diecast cars. They have released this car several times with different types of vehicles, 1958 Chryslers, panel vans, Pick up trucks and several others. These are a type most manufacturers have avoided, Mth and Lionel have released a smaller version which held 4 cars. I was glad to see these scale or near scale auto carriers made by Menards. My review, As with most Menards cars they need a little tweaking. Although the trucks and couplers are diecast I found them to be in need of some adjustments. The knuckle in a few of mine needed a little filing, also lubrication of the trucks and the couplers are a big help. All the wheels were in gauge. The super structure is made of wood, plastic and some sort fibre board that the cars sit on. The cars and vehicles are 1/48th scale diecast. They are very nice and well detailed. My overall impression is that they are a nice addition to any layouts and for guys who like cars. I saw these cars many years ago when I was a lot younger, you got to see the new models but one drawback to these type of cars were that the vehicles were in the open and not covered. So with them in the open kids and some adults would throw rocks causing damage to the vehicles. As time went on the covered auto rack came into service and the open auto carriers were no more. I have heard that some complaints of the cars swaying. Because of the type of car they are top heavy but I have seen very little sway of the cars I have. I recommend them, the price and quality is there, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the excellent review, Dave. If I didn’t have 2 MTH and 3 Lionel auto carriers I’d be buying these from Menards. I may have a crazy 5 minutes and sell the 5 I have and buy new ones from Menards. 😵💫

I have my eye on it, but I have another train purchase I'm working on.
