More snow today up north, so a White Christmas is likely. Made me think of snow trains and the celebration of this wonderful time of the year.

Not so down here in Southeastern PA this year, Brian. We’ve had our usual series of storms delivering raw, 33-degree rain — not exact a snow lovers paradise. So as the song says, we’ll just have to dream of a white Christmas here.

Brian, that's because you live in REAL snow country. Here in the Philly suburbs, it's mostly a sloppy a mess -- which is quite normal for us. I try to explain it to people this way: Think of the big snowstorm makers as low pressure systems with the face of an old-style analog clock. In order for Southeastern PA to get lots of snow, the storms need to track far enough east of the big cities (DC, Philly, NYC and Boston) so the clock-face of the low directly over us is between the 8-o'clock and 12-o'clock marking's. That's not happening this year... and the lows are tracking too far west, pulling in relatively warm ocean air -- resulting in LOTS of 33- to 40-degree RAIN. Yesterday and today were perfect examples of what I'm talking about... 1-2 inches of rain. But had the low tracked 30-40 miles more to the west, we would have had 12-18 inches of snow. This December has been one of the wettest Decembers on record here -- but little to no snow to speak of. So it looks like Santa will be using his helicopter in this part of the country.

I wish I had this talent... be fun to ride on this snow train! Little bit of snow here in IL but it will all be gone soon before Christmas as warm up is coming our way.

Quarter inch of ice here in southern New England. With mid 40’s by Christmas it’s not looking good for a white one. That 18 inches a couple of weeks ago all melted.

Christmas here in Florida isn't white, it's green, and I like it that way. While I don't want to be anywhere near the snow it sure is pretty.

Not me. Born in Bluefield, W Va, college in Blacksburg, Va, 22 here this morning, and for us that is pretty cold. SE Virginia is not a Mecca for snow activities.
David, you should be here with Hatteras and the Gulf Stream not that far away. It can get pretty wild when the lows come up the stream and get pushed ashore. Fortunately they are usually well off the Beach and on their way to the Great White North of Maine.

Although there's no sign of snow for Christmas here in southeastern PA, the last few evenings have seen temps plunging into the solid teens. So at least it's starting to FEEL like Christmas!!!

It just didn’t feel right putting Christmas lights on palm trees and sweating doing it and the fact no basements I knew Florida was not right for me.

I tolerated it better when I was young but I always hated it. I loved snow when I was little because it was a day off school. When I grew up I grew to hate snow as much as I hate the cold. While it's not for everyone Florida is the right place for me.
