Actually, I don't find this easy. All engines that actually work as they are supposed to are my favorites when on the track! That doesn't happen as often as I'd like - either being on the track or running as they should - but I'd single out the following:
The Daylight Legacy AC-12:
"Ol' Smoky" - MTH UP coal turbine:
Daylight VL GS-5:
And while this is not really a toy train smoke contest (honest!), the GS-5 is mighty impressive:

I should have said, easy for me at the moment. Which train is my favorite changes with the wind. I like all of them, picking a favorite is often challenging.

It's hard to pick one engine as my favorite but I'll go with the New York Central Heritage SD70.
