Just think you can buy one of 100 cars from the LCCA booth at York celebrating the York train show. A special run from Lionel WHO CANNOT EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO ATTEND!!! WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS!

And there are still people that will buy it and pay Lionel prices. I have a friend who is a die-hard Lionel guy. They can do no wrong in his eyes.

Not to rain on anyone's parade... because I know some folks are gonna go goo-goo / ga-ga over this kind of offering, whether Lionel attends York anymore or not. But I still have 5 or so Century Club II 6464 boxcars that I CAN'T GIVE AWAY at $10/each in my booth at the last several Allentown ATMA shows.
It's just an offering that you've gotta buy knowing YOU like it for your own reasons... but don't expect you'll EVER be able to sell to another enthusiast. Beyond the folks who will trip over each other as well as themselves to get this boxcar next Thursday, the number of people who might interested in one YEARS from now is more rare than the car itself!!!

I was fortunate and got one of these cars last year at York. I like it because it says York Meet on the side, and is fun to have running on my layout during York week.

Last two years there were 75 cars made, priced at $50. Both past two years cars sold out within 20 minutes. I'm sure this years car will sell out just as fast.

I against special run cars Like this because the first time Lionel did it the morons who wanted to be first almost knocked me over when someone kicked my cane and never said a word and nobody running to get to Lionel helped getting my cane, A older security guard who saw the whole thing helped me to get my cane. We both complained to the TCA rep who was there about what happened. Btw I also complained to Lionel about their stunt, I think it fell on deaf ears!!!
So watch the idiots when the doors open if your in line waiting to get in. I guess with Lionel not coming they decided to give the cars to the LCCA to sell, poor saps!!

Last two years there were 75 cars made, priced at $50. Both past two years cars sold out within 20 minutes. I'm sure this years car will sell out just as fast. Wow! That is fast. They need to make more in the future. The first year of the boxcar (April 2017) 50 cars were made. They were sold at the Lionel booth. I wasn't there, I heard It was a real nightmare with crowding in the Lionel booth. And on top of that a few of the dealers selling in the Orange Hall were first in line which annoyed quite a few regular folks when the doors opened. And needless to say some of the dealers on line then offered the cars at sale for $300 plus (each) either on their own websites or ebay. After the initial Lionel fiasco, Lionel pawned off on the LCCA to handle selling of the cars. Keep in mind quite a few years ago Lionel got rid of their LRRC and thus promoted the LCCA as taking over for it. One good question that came up last year while on line was shouldn't the LCCA members have first priority ? I also asked last year, since they can easily sell out 75 cars, why not make a larger amount in the first place. My response from the LCCA was "Talk to Lionel". For someone who has been a member of the LCCA for nearly 30 years, I really didn't appreciate this answer. Another topic of subject while waiting on line, why not make a predetermined amount of cars to sell at the show and then take orders for people who missed the car or couldn't attend. Since these boxcars are made with the in-house custom painting technique, its not a huge undertaking to make a later run. Then again this idea makes about the best sense, and you know what that means...

They need to make more in the future. It is all about the DOLLAR and DEMAND! If they make more it could be less, as the possibility of getting stuck with some is very high. They are not as collectible if more are made I also agree with Edwardh as to LCCA members being first. SO much for benefits of club membership. I remember standing in line one year and as said here previously, People are arrogant. After being pushed and shoved (did not have a cane yet as the other fellow) I finally said enough and just left. Funny thing was they ran out of cars 10 people before me as I talked to the fellow that got the last one later. Poor way to do it. Heck give out numbers and draw from them later. Lot less bad manners, shoving and anger. But I do believe if you are going to use the LCCA for distributing them it should be offered to members first!

Curtis, last time I was there I rented an electric scooter. People acted like I wasn't there. One guy even farted in my face. I'm at the point were I'll start running into people and maybe I'll apologize.

They are not as collectible if more are made These offerings bring out the worst of people, and they represent the seedier side of our hobby when people try to flip them for a quick profit. Plain and simple. In addition, these are just “moment in time” collectibles. As I mentioned earlier… you had better get the enjoyment out of these while you can. Because they will be essentially worthless down the road.

Read Daves ( rockymountain)posts, they are just a moment in time, apparently the people who buy them don't remember the cars made by MTH for the York show, YOU CAN'T GIVE THEM AWAY NOW!!!!! They are good for repaints though.
