Many of us use Department 56 buildings in our layout. Here are seven D56 Skyscrapers paired with the Lionel Empire State Express and other accessories to create a big city skyline.

Thanks for posting this excellent video, Emile. I really enjoyed it. The new buildings fit right in with the older ones and will make a fine scene. π

Those are great buildings, a very nice video showing what is available and even learned some history to boot. I have four of those buildings and I really like them. Would like to get the ESB but prices are a little steep for me but I'll keep looking.
Always enjoy your videos Emile.
Dave

There's often a lot of Department 56 stuff in the Member halls.

I have taken train trips for βfunβ since the late 1960βs. (Since I was living in NY, my most frequent starting point was Penn Station. ) Since the 80βs, I have traveled to conferences using various airlines. A few years ago, I decided to use the train to travel to a conference in Savannah, GA. It brought back a lot of good memories. The Silver Star / Meteor had a good schedule from/to Baltimore β early morning / early evening departure/ arrival. On the way down, I boarded and used the dining car, then took my Roomette. I enjoy going to sleep to the rocking of the sleeper. (I donβt think we went above 80 mph β I used a phone app to measure.) Overall the experience was good; however, the dining service was not too bad β certainly different than what it was in the past. I particularly enjoy meeting and dining with others. I did the trip a second time with another good experience. When time permits, Iβd like to do a Chicago to Pacific NW or the Southwest; second to that, from Baltimore to New Orleans. Iβd like to hear more about your train trips. Alfred

Wrong previous cut and paste. It is great to memorialize the NYC skyline β it is the iconic representation of a city. Since 911, the skyline looks like it did when I was a kid β there were no Towers at the Battery end of Manhattan. Whether the models depict the towers or not (I canβt see the video), it is great to have the NYC skyline on layouts. I have fond memories of being on the 86th floor observation area of the Empire State Building. Alfred

As always great videos. My layout is a small town theme so they are too big, but I'm thinking about adding some smaller buildings at some point.

Great video Emile. I enjoyed looking at the range of high rise buildings and listening to the background stories. Am really looking forward to seeing the Christmas Layout. I love Christmas (mainly for the meaning but the gifts are OK too) but really dislike the cold weather associated with it. Of Course it was not as cold and snowy in Bethlehem!
