Just wondering if there are others here like myself who don't really care about going to the York meet.
October is my favorite time of year to go fishing (I'll be leaving Friday morning to spend a week at the lake and put some time back on my life clock)so Ive never considered making the trip. It's also a 1400 mile trip so for me the airfare and hotel expense could be better spent shopping online or closer to home. I also get the feeling that once you go you are hooked so for the sake of my bank account Ill stay away.

I'd go if only to meet friends. But, it is not what it was in terms of vendors and attendance.
Not in the cards next week for sure do to health issue at home.

Not interested for a few reasons. The main one is I have enough trains, and my O and S layouts are DONE. Also, my Parkinson's is making walking a bit of a chore. My one "train buddy" out of 8 grand kids is now 17 and into sports (baseball, football, and javalin throwing) and girls. We started when he was one year old. Now that I'm 80, I'm more into pre-1920 "real photo" postcards of trains. Hopefully future travel plans to Vienna, Phoenix, and Florida (by train), will go as planned.

I'm aware of a core group of Canadian hobbyists that makes the trip, but I have no real attraction to York. It's just too far off my hobby map. Dave

The goal to build my dream layout has been met and my train collection is larger than it should be. While York may still be the largest O gauge meet in the USA, I have no needs but for other than the occasional odd purchase. Therefore the expense of admission, travel, food, coffee/snacks, over three days and two nights of lodging at York is no longer a justifiable expense. By attending Allentown (1hr:15 min away) to spend a few relaxing hours there is all that's needed. I may find the little that may be wanted there; if not we go home with a trunk full of food from the huge farmers market across the way. The only thing that I'll miss are the large York dinner events of the past, but even those are getting smaller. Looking back those were great fun times with terrific friends from all over.

I have gone to every York since 1985 (73 times) and beings I live a little less that two hours away its a nice trip for me to see friends and look at model Trains.Even with a bad back and knees I still make the trip 2 times every year. I will continue as long as they hold it and I'm still here. I don't like to travel or vacation anymore, my last vacation was about 30 years ago, I just don't enjoy it. But I look forward to York twice a year.

I've been to York twice, in 2016 when I lived in NY and 2019. It was about a 4 hour drive from the mid-Hudson valley to York. In 2019 we planned on visiting family and friends in NY in March and I bought badges for my wife and me. On the way home we stayed in York Thursday and Friday and left Sunday morning. I wouldn't travel from Florida just to attend the York meet.
I've let my TCA membership expire since there is very little, if any, benefit for those of us living in Florida. It's over a 1,000 mile drive to York and just not worth it so I agree with you Dave. No York for me in the foreseeable future.

I’d like to go once. I’ve been to the Amherst show three times and that is lots of fun. Three large buildings last time I went. I’m sure York is a step up from that. I’m not sure I need a step up from Amherst though.

I am looking forward to it. A lot of fun. Who can complain about being with thousands of trainiacs?

I’m not sure I need a step up from Amherst though. When we lived in the mid-Hudson valley I went to the Amherst show many times. It was only a 2 hour drive so it was a 1 day adventure. I usually went with fellow Old Newburgh Model RR club members. It’s a great show and we always had a good time. York is even bigger and mostly O gauge. If I still lived in NY I would go to York more frequently.

I'm not apathetic about York but I haven't been for three years + counting this year. I did find the dealer stands in the Orange Hall very useful in terms of finding supplies and parts I'd otherwise have to search for online and buy sight unseen. I really never spent much time on the used model stands as collecting is not my thing. I have got to meet a few forumites and other people in the hobby in person, which would not have happened but for York having the draw it does.
I simply can't go this month as the timing is all wrong for me. I'll aim to go next year but part of the attraction is that part of Pennsylvania, which I know very well from childhood trips especially along old Route 30.

Interesting responses guys,it appears as though I have missed York's heyday.
While my focus is to just finish my layout, I think it would be fun to go just to meet some of the people I have interacted with online over the past 15 years.

York is still the biggest and best Train Show of them all. It’s always worth the trip and I’ve always come away happy. I would recommend attending to anyone.

I have the same outlook about York; the attraction is largely meeting fellow 3Rail O scale enthusiasts I would not otherwise see. However, added to that is the relatively short drive on Route 30 to/from Gettysburg, where I got a lot (if not most) of my Civil War history as a kid several decades ago.
I could even be tempted by Scrapple but that's a highly specialized taste in food.
I'm sure I will make it there again one of these years soon. I also think the event has gone downhill since I was last there but I wouldn't let that deter me from at least one more visit.
