It seems they are at it again!!!

I rarely, if ever, post a negative on a new product. Because I know someone, maybe the majority will enjoy adding the product to their layout.
Then there are those that look for faults and post them, just to post and have their names seen, or maybe even belittle those that have an interest in the new offering.
Menard is offering products at a low price, many with a little initiative can be kit bashed or improved upon by the buyer. Their products, and possible offering engines in the future, maybe the breakthrough for the beginner on a budget or put a train under the Christmas Tree and start a tradition or maybe even spur an interest in the youngsters.
It seems the same bashers post over and over whenever Menards offers something new. Just maybe, one day, Menard will say "the hell with this" and stop offering products.
Personally, the little problems with wheels or couplers, I've been able to fix easily. Their structures with a little work can be easily kit bashed.
Menards is not the Lionel, Atlas, or MTH, but they are contributing many great products at a reasonable price.
I'm glad to read and hear that we have sensible grownups here at OGF. We may not always agree, but we always respect each others opinions.

For the price I think it's a good deal. My only rub is their buildings are too large for my layout. Most of those complainers are probably never happy with anything.

An old man I once knew said, "They complain about this, they complain about that and when they don't have anything to complain about they complain about that".

I could not agree more, Brother Joe - and if not true gratitude then at least some appreciation. 

How does a smoke unit work with water?

I’m sure from looking at the video that it is an ultrasonic water vaporizer. These devices are used, for example, in home humidifiers and, as I mentioned on the other current Menards thread, a very small one that pulses on and off is used in a Brio wooden track toy steam engine (my grandson has one).

I don’t know if a fan or impeller is necessary to push the vapor out but maybe not. Anyway the effect is similar to billowing smoke although the vapor dissipates in the air faster and there’s no oily residue (but some water can condense on nearby surfaces). I don’t know if larger ones are used in smoke effect machines for stage/display purposes, which may have some kind of chemical added to the water.

P.S.In accordance with the OGF Founding Ethics, I am not interested in moaning about products/news for attention's sake - I only post what I think is informative or enjoyable in the Family Room context. People who moan about products for the sake of doing so are welcome to stay away/where they are. Wider news is a more difficult matter and I would not want to discourage anyone from having their say.

Love Menards products. For the price I can't believe they look so great.
