Now I'm the first to admit, I'm not close to being perfect. But I'm enjoying adding cars to my 4-6-0 engine. Here's a recent 19th century boxcar I acquired super cheap, but needed some cosmetic to fit in for my C&N RR. I used to do this a lot in "N" and "HO", not so much "O". For removing paint from plastic cars, I've found 91% alcohol works wonder. I let it soak an hour and the paint just practically floats off. I use 1/2 bottle of 32oz, then for final rince the rest of the bottle. For Diecast engines and cars, I use Brake Fluid and get same results, just make sure you wash with a de greaser afterwards. For make a floor for Boxcars and buildings that don't have any, I used a photo of a wood floor which I made copies downsized to "O" scale, cut to size and any edges showing in a doorway I just use a Magic Marker on edges. Rough the metal floor of boxcar, and Super Glue floor in. Then use an acrylic wash on boxcar floors of rail brown and dusted with black chalk powder. Then sprayed with a Matte clear. For molded on detail that are very small, like the metal straps and hand grabs, door details, etc. which are very small, I use a tootpick just barely touching into paint then used the tip edge to paint the details. For some of the decals loses on lettering and numbers, I use the tootpick and lightly rub them after they have set. The wheels I spray flat black after they have been cleaned with alcohol and then dry brush some rust into them. If anyone has some hints I could use in future project, please post

Very nicely done! I've never tried a toothpick to paint details... I always use a tiny brush. But hey, I'll try anything once... the good things twice!

The car looks fabulous, Josef. I used to use 91% alcohol to remove paint when I was in N scale but haven't tried it in O.👍
