I had a wonderful phone conversation over the weekend with a long-time Brooklin Model collector/customizer. He goes back in our hobby for over 35 years and knows all the key players from his contacts over the years. He was particularly impressed how well the NABCC has done since it’s inception in May, 2021. He told me that for several years, there was an effort to form a Brooklin Club serving the US, but it never worked out. As close as it got was Brooklin Model collectors would meet once or twice a year at the Chicago Car Shows and “talk” about it.
He then asked me how the NABCC started. I told him it all started with an unsolicited letter I wrote to Brooklin Models in January, 2021 with ideas on how to improve their market share in North America. Brooklin then reached out to me and said they had been working on such an initiative for a couple of years, but there was nothing concrete on place. They asked me to contact an individual who was heading up this project in the US. There was then talk about an event at the NB Center in November to organize, but that was about it.
When we think there is a great idea, we are not good at the waiting game. We then brought into the mix our OGF Foundation, LLC management team who agreed that a North America Brooklin Model Club was a good idea. This team provided all of the funding and the bulk of management expertise and formed our club in less than 60 days. The rest is history as we have grown rapidly.
In life, there are typically twists and turns in the “road” and how effectively you react to them defines who you are. Our OGF Foundation Management Team is made up of some very talented folks who love a challenge. There is a lot positive energy and some wonderful projects coming your way for our NABCC members. As they say, we are just getting started. Stay tuned.
