Since the NHL playoffs are starting and I'm thinking about it, has anyone ever seen a Washington Capitals train car? I've seen a Lionel NY Islanders trailer on flat car that must have been a special run and I have the two older conference cars Lionel made years ago. Just wondering, figured if anyone would know it would be here???

I don’t know about a Washington Capitals car but I do know that the NY Islanders TOFC was a special run for a Long Island train club about 10 years ago.

The only NHL related cars I recall were a couple from Lionel (MPC era?) that were painted for each conference at the time. They were a Campbell Conference box car with team logos from the conference printed on it and a corresponding Wales Conference box car. I don't recall if the Capitals were on the car. Since the Caps were born in 1974 I don't know if they were pictured on the Wales Conference car.
If anyone made NHL team specific cars I haven't seen any. If they did I'd already have my Philadelphia Flyers car!!

A search on the bay turned up nothing for hockey in O-Gaige as far as I can tell.
But I did find some 1:43 scale Zambonis. Need to build a rink on the layout!

I've got those 2 MPC cars, but would have to dig them out of storage to check the teams I do seem to remember the Caps were on there, but it's been awhile since I looked at them. Lionel also made a Stanley Cup box car MPC era. Several zamboni flats, I have a double Lionel version and a premier MTH that has 3 Zambonis on it. Would that be Zambeese??
Need to find a dealer to start prepping for a custom run box car when Ovie passes Gretzky!!!

Unfortunately the Bruins did zippo last night. Luckily only game one but the Hurricanes have had their number all season.
Need to pray to the hockey gods a bit harder.

Now that’s a good one! That would have been perfect for the SJ Sharks. I lived in Silicon Valley and followed the Sharks around the time when they had a good run and were perennial favorites to win the cup. The closest they came was the year they were up 3 games to 0 in the final, but managed to to lose it all. |
