This evening I went up to see some trains in Madison & Unionville Ohio. Well, this is the longest train I have ever seen and it was all loaded sand covered hopper cars. See if you can count the cars. This train has units up front, then 2 sets of DPU distributed power units, 2 mid UP DPU & 2 rear UP DPU. A must see video!!!

Wow, that’s impressive. That must be one heavy train! It was slowly picking up speed throughout the entire video. I wonder what the weight was?

Okay, did some searching. Gross rail load of a covered hopper is 286,000 lbs. Multiply that by 252 and you get 72,072,000 lbs. Wow is right.
