According to the instruction manual the CAB1L remote can address the CAB2 base. I’m going to try since I now have both. There are no instructions from Lionel that I could find.

Yup it works. We use that configuration on our club layout....
select the engine number and off you go...

Does that mean you can access all the Legacy features with the Cab1L ?

Does that mean you can access all the Legacy features with the Cab1L ? No, just the basic features. If you want full Legacy access you need Cab2.
