I've seen some pictures of their tusks, I certainly wouldn't want to tangle with an unhappy one!

osprey, thanks for the info. Every time I read about them I see different things about them. Javelinas have very poor eye sight so some of the "attacks" are a mistake. Down our street there was a herd of ten the other night. They have even been seen in shopping centers. That would tell me people are feeding them. Big mistake! Thanks again for the info. Don Yes, learn something new every day and it helps your brain (not mine, unfortunately, but I'm interested anyway). I wouldn't want to cross one of these, and I figure they fend for themselves on the food front, so they wouldn't be getting any leftover McDonald's from me . . . . My daughter-in-law has a mutt for that purpose, although I'm worried about its diet.

Those Javelinas are species of wild pigs not quite as ferocious as a board but not friendly in the wilds. In some parts of South America some people even have them as pets but native tribes use them as a food supply. I would venture to say that they are quite tasty. Their appearance is very similar to the South American Capybara but that is a large rodent.

We had a boar sleeping at our garage door one morning when we lived on Maui. I guess he wanted to play with my trains. Don

Don,
If I lived near you I would also sleep in your garage to wait to play with your trains.
