Anybody do any outdoor sport/hunting/shooting scenes on their layouts? I've still got loads of empty spaces on mine, but the spots that are done seem to be related to my other hobby (although it's really just my life, not a hobby ). Here's one, after a good day at deer camp on the layout getting ready to butcher a nice buck. Mr Green Jeans is checking licenses and field tags before the luck hunters get started. (My Dad was a game warden, little guy works his way around the layout...)

Over on the next ridge one of the guys is still out, found a nice buck in an opening in the timber where a big oak fell...

Down by the tracks a traditional flintlock guy is using the noise from a WMD 0-8-0 steam switcher to sneak up on a couple fat gobblers.

Nice scenery, you really did a nice job. Although I don't have any hunting scenes on my layout there must be some others that do. I know Laz hunts so he may have some. He does have Big Foot though!!!

Still working on this scene, but there's a shooting match down at the local muzzleloading club today. Just enough room next to it I may do a small primitive camp like the fellas are getting some camp time in before the next 18th century market faire or rendezvous. Figures are mainly all Revolutionary war and Civil war soldiers repainted in civilian, living history attire.

Your scenes brought back a memory from decades ago, especially mentioning muzzle loaders. During the 70s, and for the life of me can't remember what movie I was in. But here's a shot of me dressed up and my Flintlock rifle. The part made me later join a Muzzle loading club were 80% were cap and ball and I still stayed with a Flintlock. Thanks for stirring a memory. Boy was I young then.

The one I admire is the baseball stadium located on the Corner Field Museum layout. It is just terrific.

Osprey, your hunting and shooting scenes are very well done. I will look for a place on my layout where I can squeeze in a shooting/hunting scene.

President of our local club, hunt with them and make my own from a 3" plank of maple all the way through the hand engraving with hammer and graver.

One more, poor old farmer is on the receiving end of some bear damage! I always try to go to far western Maryland for the bear season in late October when one of us can draw a tag and one of the biggest things we look for is corn fields with bear damage. Dang critters get out in the standing corn and roll around while eating and playing. You can see the big openings from the roads and hillsides, some of the damage spots are bigger than a house footprint!
